It's been a long time since I've posted, but I figured I would update a little. I decided to buy another LT1 Z/28 for now, and my Balt was paid off, and is being sent to auction after the title is swapped. So if anyone is interested in some good SC parts that would not be a bad option. I'll keep browsing on here, as I want another balt at some point, but mainly to come out to WW and stuff.

My 06 ss has always had some slight suspension noise in the front when it gets colder out but I usually only hear it when just leaving say work or home after a little bit of driving I usually don't notice it anymore. I think I read front suspension squeaks and creaks are common in cold weather within reason obviously if its big clunks and bangs there is something else going on.

my right front has done that since i got it brand new in 09. as soon as it gets cold, makes a weird almost crunching noise. I know its the spring compressing but it goes away after i drive the car a bit.

Also, would it be better to wait till spring to get my car tuned or is it alright to tune the car in the winter?
Unless you somehow know him personally probably not and if your asking the second question you need to do some more research.

Alright, thanks.
Know of any other tuners in southern MI that are still tuning cobalts?

Try ZZP or OTTP they have in house tuners there. Personally around this part of the country the only person I trusted with my car was Bryan but he was hell to get ahold of but worth it in the end. Down south there would only be a few others I would trust. Too many beginner tuners who think they know everything now days.

Ok. I actually had ZZP second on my list but I was hoping to get tuned locally by a good tuner that doesn't charge an arm and a leg,
but now that I think about it ZZP may be a better choice since I think that more is wrong with the car besides the tune.

Anybody know any of the history on mkrieb's cobalt?
That's the one I have now and he hasn't really been too chatty about what has been done to the car or any problems he may have had with it.

Check out Schram Auto Parts 1-800-462-9292 they specialize in GM parts and have a location in Lansing and Waterford. They usually have just about everything and their prices are very reasonable.

Did you do any research on it? A 2 minute search showed me he started learning to tune on his own car. I'm not sure if he knew what he was doing or not but that alone would make me not want to buy the car.

Yeah, I researched the car a little bit before I bought it, but at the time I was new to cobalts and didn't really know much about the inner workings of it and what to look for as far as problem areas. It wasn't till after I bought the car that I found a couple of things that where done to the car and I wasn't exactly happy when I read that he had a large turbo kit on the car with stock internals. I hope that I don't have to many more problems with the car since so far I've had to replace the gms1 sensors, I had a ringland fail, I have no idea if my shifter is adjusted properly, and I don't think the tune is right. So, needless to say, I've had an interesting time with the car so far.

Happens when you buy used. I looked for a stock one and finally got mine, I'll never buy off a car forum unless its someone I know has a good reputation.

I would recommend ZZP they wont rip you off and will tell you how it is. They have been pretty straight forward with my and my buddy Steve (Boosted05) they don't try to sell you **** you don't need and will suggest parts and recommend what not to buy we both had cars tuned there. Great group of guys there don't let the few threads you read on here about there customer service shy you away. They need help in the email and phone department. Your best bet is to drive up there and see whats up. Not to say anything bad about OTTP I just have never had personal experiences with them.

Pretty sure his is a 95 lt1. He's having a few issues with OD they we need to look into. Its got a real nice aftermarket hood, and is really clean for a 95.

95 Polo green Z/28, car has 186k on it. Real SLP SS ram air hood, programmed, 3.73's, Flowmaster muffler bolted on. Thursday I'm taking it to get scanned about it not staying in OD, but not bad for something inexpensive to get me around for now.

Just a note, if anyone is in the Detroit area my Cobalt is going to be put up for auction by State Farm. ALL ZZP and aftermarket parts on the car, with receipts still. I'll call and find out when/where it's going. Car still has a ton of good parts left on it.

Just got done getting a dyno tune at ZZP (Thanks Turbo Tim!).

Here's the mods:

ZZP Stage 2 - 39# Injectors, 3.1 pulley
ZZP CAI
ZZP Downpipe with hiflo CAT, 2.5" Stainless Mandrel Bent Exhaust with Magnaflow resonator and Muffler

244hp - 214ft/lb with only 14psi of boost... Not too bad!! I'm happy!

Probably going to step up to 50# injectors and a 2.9 pulley in the spring.

Here's the sheet: http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...12-20-2011.jpg

This ^ 60's would be key.

I put down 251 WHP 225 ft/lb, with similar mods.
ZZP CAI
ZZP Stage Kit 42#, 2.9 Pulley
ZZP Mid-Length 1.75 Primary 3" Catted DP
ZZP 3" Stainless Mandrel Bent Exhaust W/ Magnaflow Resonator and Muffler

With about 14.5 boost

And Tim tuned mine also.
