You should have been there for the dyno day we did in late Feb.
I have to disagree with a number of statements you made. The GM Stage kit yields the lowest gains compared to other tuning options. Not a good "bang for the buck" choice unless you want to be sure of warranty coverage. A good tune alone will net better gains than the GM St1.

The reason I was saying the GMS1 is a good "bang for the buck" is to have the upgraded sensors to read higher turbo levels so that you can get tuned on top of it. Or if he just wanted to get a tune and keep the factory warranty then the GMS1 would be more than worth it so he/she can see little gains from there bolt ons beside being stock and seeing nothing.
Quick question for you though. Can the HP Tuner be switched on and off with the push of a button like Trifecta offers?

I have the GM Stage 1 Upgrade. It's def a significant different over stock. Well worth every penny. If your planning on doing any bolt ons to your car your going to want it so you can take even the slightest advantage over your upgraded components as a non GMS1 Cobalt wont yield any gains in power.
If your getting an after market tune your also going to want the GMS1 so that you can get the upgraded sensors so your computer will read higher boost levels properly. Get it.

Cheapest your going to get it.
btw do you have a blue ss/tc with a low rise?

the car is only as safe as the way you drive it.. just cause its tuned doent mena it harms it constantly.. plus you just might feel a lil froggy one day when one too many ricers fly by you then you say oops... my tune isnt turned on.. also its a PITA when you want the tune on cause you might need it for a track day or something and your tuner isnt available to put it back on for you. in short... the power is there if you need it... you dont have to abuse it.. you can drive casualy and still have a tune.. its no biggie

I have done 3 tune over stage 1's now..
each have had their unique issues to overcome... but each has also gained ALOT of power of the Stage 1.
HHR SS stage 1+ catback: 279 and 286 same car same day with HPT over the top: 311whp and 355wtq
Cobalt SS stage 1+ catback, downpipe, charge pipes and hahn intake: 287 and 290 with HPT: 321 and 380
SOO there is a ton of potential with the stage which I'll be adding to mine sometime in the near future... I would honestly get stage 1 and then have a HPT tune over that.
On both cars I saw from 3-5* of knock on the stage file alone... on my tune had ZERO knock... so which is safer?

lol it wont be killed... i mean what makes my car so much different from any other cobalt LNF?? that does upgrades?? if i do an upgrade its going to the actual place to do it.. Dejon has many upgrades for my car there based in covington ohio only 3 hours form my house... ZZP is in wyoming michigan which isnt far from my home either... and they have a very nice upgrade kit i see.. but they have to do the install.. my cars over warranty.. and will be paid off when i get back... if it blows up it doesnt matter... it will still have value to it... throw a new LNF motor in it and the clock starts over.. ill only owe 2 grand on the car by the end of deployment and itll be worth least 6-10.... so its not a losing situation for me.. itll be bought and paid for..

I've already got the Trifecta tune on top of my GMS1. Once I'm done with full bolt ons. Which I'm waiting on Modern Performance to finish releasing the parts they say they will then I will probably be talking to Benny about the HPT. Might even be going with a different turbo after all of that. I haven't completly decided what I want to do with my car. Stock GMS1 with Trifecta tune makes about 290+whp and 330+wtq.
The aftermarket for the LNF is kind of weak in my opinion, but we'll see as time goes by. Already considering getting something different. Right now I'm set on just getting a new car as my daily driver. The new Cruze or something.

There are plenty of parts out for the car... most are just too cheap to buy them or "have them made"
Most of the parts from my turbo build were custom made.... charge pipes, intercooler end tank rework, intake, and turbo elbow, and downpipe...
The mani came from Synapse, I hate their intercooler but the manifold was solid.
Most people want the switchable stuff because they think it's safe... but my car is much easier, much more consistant now than it was when it was stock...

Nah I went with the trifect a tune for a different reason. Like I said I want to have my SS/TC ready to go and get another car to drive around for ***** and giggles. Car runs like poo **** on GMS1 with the bolt ons. I can just feel the car going wack above 4500 RPMs.
There's only so much you can really do to a stock LNF. Alot of people on these forums seem to be more concerned with replacing everything with LEDs and bashing on all the vendors when parts are too expensive or not released when they should be.

i always hear about these LNF's but when i see them its hard to see what they have done when theyre in my rearview ive ran a couple bolted and tuned lnf's and i was not impressed. if i put a custom 256 turbo setup on my car ill make more power than an upgraded turbo lnf. Not bashing but in my opinion im not impressed. Maybe its their final drive ratio that hurts them or they need a driver mod but oh well maybe one day ill get to run a fast one
