Ahh, alright.
I think I could narrow down the choices for ya haha but it'll take a bit of a read on your part.
We work on a "level system" ranging from level 10 to level 1, with level 1 being the highest. If you come in and fail your weld test, and 98% of people do, if you're hired you start at level 10. If you're one of the lucky 2% then you start at a level 8. I believe the current rate for a level 8 is right around $15/hour.
After you leave the welding school you go on to first shift for a month to train on the floor. After that month you go to third shift and recieve a $.75 raise. In two more months you get your 90 day evaluation and hopefully get bumped up a level. Best case scenerio at this point is a level 7 and being on third shift you would be making right around $17/hour.
The next evaluation comes at your 1 year mark. Hopefully you get bumped another level. At this point level 6 the best a "normal" (I say normal because I'm a part of Liebherr's first apprenticeship program and these rules dont really apply to me) employee could hope for.
I've been working for Liebherr for a year and nine months and I am a level 4. I make over $20/hour currently but this would not be possible if I wasn't an apprentice or otherwise had a MAJOR hook up.
I personally know every person involved with the hiring process at Liebherr, and I know only one person has any part of what you make. However, he is only involved with what you start at and again, best case scenerio you start at a level 8.
After that there are only 2 people who can affect your pay rate. The first shift and third shift supervisors.
Im assuming her uncle would have to be one of those two men.
1st shift supervisor- Jimmy Phitzmeyer (im totally mis-spelling here)
3rd shift supervisor- Evrett Brazzier (again SP?)
Edit- Id like to add that I'm absolutely NOT trying to discredit your statement here. It would just be shitty of either one of them, ya know?

Lol that's nuts. His name wasn't Herbert by chance? That's just about the only way I could see that that haha. From what I hear he was a crazy SOB. He got sick about a week after I started and I never got to meet him, though.

Today's weather was pretty decent. Not too humid, not too dry. I thought it was great. Some of my customers thought I was crazy because I had a truck with ac and wasn't using it. It felt like home in late July/early August, just not as dry. It was a good day to be outside.

Keep in mind that Salt Lake City is considered a high desert. Ironic since my license plates say Greatest Snow On Earth. I'm used to these temps with 3-4% humidity. That's drier than the Sahara Desert, the driest place on Earth. Today we were only about 35-39% humidity. Yes, I was watching. Environmental Science is fun to me, and one of the merit badges I got in Boy Scouts.
