WANTED!!! A GM dealership that will install a GM stage kit

Well I bought the GM stage 1 kit off of Crate engine depot and have the kit in my hands and no GM dealership will install the kit .They all tell me that they do not instrall performance accesories. I tell them its the GM stage 1 kit warrantied by GM . They tell me that they do not want to be responsible for if they install it and then something happens to the motor.

I found one place(Buff Whelan) that will install it for $380.00. I said your kidding me the SRT is at max 1.5 and at 96.0hr for labor is about $150.0. They said well yea thats what we charge$380.0 . I called them back today to check again and now they said$ 240.0 for the install.

So now I called up the dealership and said well if I install the injectors myself can I have them install the reflash. Some said no and Buff whelan and Ed Rinke said we will do it but for $100.0 and $140.0 for the reflash.

COME ON GUYS HELP ME OUT ON THIS . SOMEONE HAS TO KNOW IF THERE IS A DEALERSHIP THAT WILL INSTALL THIS IN THE SOUTHEASTERN PART OF MICHIGAN!!!.

Thats strange, the dealerships in my area get mad if you install prefomance parts anywhere else but them. When my clutch went bad i had a warrenty on it, but decided to get a stronger clutch, they installed it for free. Sure there arnt any other dealerships in ur area

I am very interested in this because I am hoping to get a stage 2 kit in a couple months and will need an installer. I bought my SS/SC at Buff Whelan and was hoping that they would be able to do it. $240 doesn't seem outrageous but is by no means a deal. Keep us posted on anything you come up with during your search. Sorry I am of little help.

Buff whelan will install but for way too much money.

I could but it would cost up the ass. I can get one online for $577 which is the best price I have seen. I was just interested if a decent place could be found to install it. Do you think the dealer would cut me a deal if I bought it through them? The markup price is so high perhaps I could buy it through them if they agreed to install it for free/cheap. hmmmmm.....

Go look through the phonebook and find the local AC DELCO garage, they are the same as the dealership except less b.s.

In a situation like this I'd buy the parts from the dealer, and have them dealer instaled. If they sell the parts then they should now how to install them, plus you don't want to take the chance of getting involved with a dealewrship that doesn't understand the effects of performance parts on your warranty, look for a dealer with alot of SS models or Vettes on the lot, even a dealer with a GMPP shop on site. When I was in Houston, there was a Ford dealership that had it's own Ford Racing and performance parts shop(they also sold after-market performance parts). They also happened to have a race ready $125,000 Grand-Am cup FR500C Mustang on site for sale. Thats the kind of dealership you want to deal with.

You could to bargin with them to install it cheap, im not so sure that would work. Its hard to say, all the dealerships are the same, they gata gave a reason to help you out. The only reason they installed my spec clutch for free was because they were covering for gms screw up, to keep me coming back later on plus it would have been free anyway, they were afraid i would go cry to gm.
its worth a shot tho. Your best bet would be to go in there and talk to them, see if you can cut a deal

I'm going to try one more place tommorrow to see if they can help but it's not looking good.

I know I can install the injectors myself but I need the reflash and doesn't it void the warranty if you install it yourself?

only of the part you intalled youself causes a problem, and they have to prove the problem was caused by that part.

I had my Stage 1 installed at Underwood Chevrolet (I think they are in Saline) and they charged me $130. I think that Al Serra in Grand Blanc will also install it.

I had the same problem with my stage 2. I called 5 or 6 different dealerships, same thing at each one....NO. Well except for the dealership that wanted to do for $400 because of the difficulties with my turbo set up. I called Tom at Crate Engine Depot & told him of my problems. He has a list of GM Performance shops. He gave me 2 phone numbers & both of the dealserships were willing to do it. I had to drive out of state, but it was only a little over an hour drive so it was not too bad. A lil usless FYI there is not a single dealership in the state of Mississippi that is a GM Performance certified dealer. Just call Tom, that man goes above & beyond for his customers. BTW Banner Chevrolet only charged me $198 for the install.

Yeah I'm looking into getting the stage 2 and I looked on Gmperformanceparts.com or gmgoodwrench.com I forget, anyways they list all the GM dealerships that do performance parts. Well I called the only one even remotely around me that supposably does it and they said the same thing "we dont mess with anything aftermarket" and I used the "it's a GM warrantied part... you dont install GM parts" and they said no. So I think GM dealers are full of s***.

If anyone knows a dealer in louisiana or close to it that will do it please let me know, I searched and no luck. I thought I saw something about one in NO, anyone know the dealership's name?

edit: is Banner the one in N.O.?

Thumbs up I'll ask my buddy....

who works at Jay Chev on M59 between Highland and Hartland. I bought my SS/Sc there and I'm getting my Stage 2 fitted on 11/6. When I'm there I'll ask for you if you want. They charge me $80/hr because I know a guy there. So, I'm guessing $320 or so, since they said it's a 4 hour job.

Gage Motor Mall in Grand Haven, MI will install a stage 2 for the 1.5hrs of labor GM recommends. If the dealership puts in the part number of the whole kit (not each individual part) it says 1.5hrs of labor and that is what GAGE MOTOR MALL will charge. If anybody is interested and wants a point of contact for them, PM me.
