Woodward Dream Cruise 2008! It was sweet!
This thread was for planning on meeting up for the 2008 Woodward Dream Cruise. The Cruise is now over.
Next June I'll start another thread to make plans for everyone getting together for the 2009 Woodward Dream Cruise.

Haha yeah, sorry about that. I sorta got a little ahead of myself there. I know there's at least two ECOTEC enthusiasts groups that usually get together and meet up, but I'm not with either, so I was just wondering if anyone knew if any groups were going, or if any individuals were going.

August 16th is the main day, although Friday is huge as well. Any day that week the street will be full at night and most nights in the weeks before that you will see guys cruising.
I enjoy Friday night the most usually. Not as busy as Saturday so the traffic moves and you get to see a lot and since its later in the day you don't fry in the sun.

Real application: Come to Woodward at any night of Aug 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, etc to see cool cars and cruise.
Its pretty much the largest car show in the world.
Just watch out for cops, they are sneaky little guys using motorcycles, bicycles, etc to try to catch you doing something wrong.

Hey Everyone! Thanks for inquiring about it. Yes as Krispy said the main day of the Cruise is Saturday August 16th. But Woodward is usually jam packed during that day and it can take like up to an hour to drive even a couple miles (not fun for us driving our manuals). So Saturday is definitely much better to walk around, and not "cruise" on Woodward. Friday the night before will also be pretty busy and will be a good night to cruise. Actually the week before the cruise it's also pretty packed. And if you are a regular on Woodward as I am myself, Woodward is pretty hoppin on Friday and Saturday nights already.
I'm also on solsticeforum.com and the Solstices are getting together on Thursday evening August 14th.
So maybe I can see if we can maybe roll up with them or something.
Anyone here a member on South East ECOTEC Enthusiasts? seecarclub.net? I think they usually get something together. I'd like to try and cordinate something between all of us to see if we can get a really big group of ECOTEC cars to roll together. I think it'd be great.
If you are interested stay subsribed to this posting and I'll work on getting something together.

Totally respect that. If you got a classic ride, then definitely drive or ride or be there with that. The Woodward Dream cruise has certainly expanded, and while it will always be a tribute to the cars of the past, it's for all car lovers and enthusiasts to be there, and for that everyone has a right to be there.
Also the actual day of the cruise, Saturday August 16th will be the worst day to get everyone together to cruise on so that's the day to let the classics, vintage and other cars to have their day in the spotlight.
I'm proposing that we get together before the actual cruise. Maybe the Saturday before, Friday August 15th, or Thursday August 14th.
I know on Saturday for me personally I'll be parking my car somewhere in Down Town Birmingham and will be walking around. I won't be driving that day.
But if we can get a general consensus of when to go that'd be great.

Great! I'm glad to see that some of you are interested!
As zetterbergfan1 suggested about us getting together before hand, I was definitely thinking the same.
I'm going to join the South East ECOTEC enthusiast site, (seecarclub.net) and see if they have anything going on for the Dream Cruise. I will also contact the person on Solsticeforum.com to see if maybe we can join the Kappa convoy...
So aside from myself, Krispy, 06Black, Shitibo (maybe) and LSJwannabe (maybe), and I know a couple other people that have Cobalt SS's, but I don't know what they'll be doing. I'll contact them as well and we'll try and get as many Cobalt's out as possible! Again it's early but with these things the sooner you plan them the better.
Ok I'll make those contacts and let you guys know.

OK cool cool everyone. Yeah It's probably going to still be a while. I joined South East ECOTEC Enthusiasts and put up a post about a meet up for Woodward yesterday, and so far got one hit. I'm still waiting to hear from the people at solsticeforum.com
