Since you don't need it right now (there is no new software upgrade for the Cobalt yet), I would recommend getting it online. Best Buy and CC will rape you for it. They want something like $40 and I have had problems with their branded USB - to -Serial not working.
This is the one I recommend:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...1104&p_id=2276
You can get it out the door for just over $10 shipped.
I'm going to try this one:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5859
And I'll let you guys know if it works and if the merchant seems reasonable. We may start stocking them for you.

You should be able to spool the turbo up some on the 2-step. Try a higher RPM. Jay was able to get 21 lbs on the 2-step on an SRT with the S3 turbo. Of course, some might say that is still a small turbo... Of course, you also need to have traction if you want 21 lbs at launch....

so i know its been kind of answered but not really, when does the launch control cut off? when the clutch is fully engaged? when I move the clutch at all? I ask b/c I am going to be on street tires for some time now, and will upgrade to sticker street tires so I want to know how much feathering of the clutch I can do with the launch control.

The launch control cuts off whenever your clutch pedal position switch opens again. That usually happens pretty close to the top of the travel. Usually less than 1" from the top.
You may be able to adjust it as well. On the SRT, I believe the switch position was adjustable, if you didn't like where it was triggering. But, this varies car to car.

Ok, add me to the list for the dual-feature box
No rush on mine, I won't be installing for a month.
