06 cobalt ss in jax

Hey I am David from Jacksonville,FL I recently picked up a silver cobalt ss g85 package with the gm stage 2 kit and lower springs (which I plan on changing out soon). I want to make it a fun street car/autocross project. I guess that's it for now

Bam.

I know you car. You bought it from Scott in Tampa.

That was the first SS I ever drove and the reason I have had two of them.

You let me know when you are ready for a tune to really unleash some power; I tune LSJs and live about an hour from you.

Ps. Those lowering springs are crap! Lol

It's a small world. And it really needs one cause its putting black soot on the bumper. Yeah it felt like the struts were going to pop through the hood till I got new tires but I think I know what she's going to get soon

I am tuning a car in Jax in like two weeks.

Buy SS/TC struts. 08-10 2.0 cobalt ss.

They are cheapest and Amazon.

If you want stock springs for some reason, I have a full set in my garage.

Nice, but I think I need to change a few things before getting it tuned. I was thinking about Powell springs with koni yellows. Oh and happy Easter

Happy Easter!

You have a stage 2 GM 3.06" pulley on it with 42lbs injectors.

That's a great combo. Another favorite is Road Magnet/OTTP springs.

OTTP can give you a GREAT deal on a Koni package.

If you need anything, I'm not to far away.

Go on Facebook and find JCM or Jacksonville Car Meets (If it is public right now. They have to do cop clenses every so often lol).

Street.
I wil do dyno after I have a street tune I am happy with and adjust for most power while still maintaining good DD characteristics.

Do your struts, shocks, springs, and CABs. The CABs are the bushing that go through the control arm. When they go bad you have a ton of fore and aft movement while driving. I know they have never been done before on that car. Mine were bad by 50k on both of my SS.

I am on there already, ok I was wondering how you do your tuning. I think that's what I am going to do next after the mounts cause I have alittle movement in the shifter when I get on or off the gas

All the shifters have play in them. It's only connected by cables so play in it doesn't mean motor mounts like some cars.

Mounts are good to do as well.

I would really prefer you get a wideband o2 gauge so you can view your AFR in real time. Other than that, nothing. I have the cable and the software needed.
What kind of BMW was it?

Fuel filter should be newer on that car. It had the dealer recall for the fuel pump and tank done like 2 years ago.

There is more room for power out of your tune.

I would say you check out the Spark Plug bible here and get a fresh set of the correct plugs for your car. Get a Wideband in there. Change the fuel filter. Cabin air filter (behind the glove box). And look into the CABs and lower control arms out front. Check out the brakes as well; if need replaced I suggest Powerstop pads and blank rotors.

You have a GM stage two hub on that car. If you want more power, find a 4 bolt hub 2.9" pulley and a set of 60# injectors for her. Once I tune you, I will always support your tune for future mods.

There are a few other SS up your way too. A white turbo one, red turbo one, black supercharged one, and another black turbo one that is slammed low.

I already got the fuel filter after I got the car. And I got the one step colder ngk iridium plugs, but I forgot what I gapped them too but I used this forum for the part number and gap. I need to get an intake on it cause the injen has a gash in it from the old mounts I think cause I readjusted the intake and it cleared the core support but the next day it was back hitting the support

From what I know, the mounts are original. You should replace them with these.

I pulled a 5 series back when I was only GMS2 no problem.

I'd give the car a once over and make sure everything is perfect before tuning.

Yeah they all are that's why I think I am going to change them before I do anything else. But anything I should look for other then the normal stuff. The belt looks ok and it holds boost. I do have an oil leaks I am trying to track down, I already replaced the valve cover gasket and it seemed to fix it but it looks to be back

Did you torque in order?
Sometimes oil seeps by and you need a dab of RTV in the corners of the cover.
