Do a compression test. Pull the plugs, check them. Scan the car over for cut wires, grounds that were existing, signs of tampering or movement of bolts, marks misaligned, stuff like that.
If they say no to letting you take it home and think on it, walk away. If they do take the car home and look that sucker over on everything. Comp test and all.

looks clean, ask to take it home over night, let your "wife" take it for a ride. Most will let you. If he says no then they might be hiding something or they dont trust you. Then I would not trust them. At the least ask him to let you take it to a mechanic and have it comp tested or do it yourself. Dont go blindly into it. Otherwise that Sucker is CLEAN, nice find, great price if all checks out.

As far as I can tell, it seems like a good deal. Take it for a long test drive, drive in the city, on the highway, see how the can handles pressure in general, that's usually one of the best ways to tell how well a car has been taken care of. Now as C130 already said, it's always a good idea to have compression tests done and to check the plugs and whatnot. Every vehicle I've purchased, including my cobalt, was a 100k plus car, one of them had almost 150k, but they were all excellent vehicles, very mechanically sound and well taken care of.
