Here's my opinion...
She's hung up on the LS because that's all her fiance could afford. Trying to make the best out of what they have by clinging to the weight difference. Her fiance's non-boosted LS is not going to beat an SS, NA perhaps, but other than that, just not happening. A weight difference of 200 lbs isn't enough to compensate for the extra 110 HP. Granted his car isn't stock, but he isn't making 110 extra HP without boost or nitrous. Stickers and fart can don't provide as much as you think they would.
My advice to the OP...
Let your ego go, you don't know everything, and evidently hardly anything at all. Listen to some of the advice in here, you could learn a thing or two. And, back to the original topic, an $800 turbo kit isn't happening. At least not a reliable one. Also, as others have said, for the money that it's actually going to cost, he might as well get a used SS. Remove the back seats or something if he really wants that 200 lbs back.

i never quoted that i knew a lot about cobalt's let alone cars . i did say i knew that weight plays a big factor in a race.
now thats all i wanted to know but someone with an ego had to say to go and buy an ss
he could have bought an ss but decided against it because he wanted to build it up not be a ***** and buy it.
its called being a car enthusiast. i would rather know i built my sc400 than say i bought the car like it is.

i bought a stock SS.
building it up.
whats being a ***** about it? Buying a more supior car to start with than a base?
There is nothing wrong with a base or building it, what is wrong her is the ego behind this OP.

buying a stock boosted car isnt the same as "built not bought". ask any of the guys and they will tell you how much money they have dumped into their cars. even those who go tvs or turbo swap or bigger turbo swap. at least thats how I see it and im sure most will agree.

Base balts were for people that wanted a cheap car with decent mileage. The SS was meant to be the faster car for people that weren't as concerned with mileage and saving money.
Admit it... he could only afford the LS and now he wants a "racecar".
