Jumping on board very soon....
Figured I better post an intro.
I'm going to be picking up a ss/tc sedan by years end.
I would start the hunt now but I have a few other things to take care of first.
My goal is to start searching in December and take as long as I need to find the right one somewhere in the nation.
I was pretty set on getting a Caliber SRT4 but after a couple weeks of evening reading on them and some research have decided to go with ss/tc.
The biggest reason I am shying away from the CSRT4 is the fact that a used engine / short block is virtually non-existent.
It seems with the ss/tc the biggest potential issue is the transaxle. At least there's a few available and it appears the HHR SS would fit although with minor differences but the point is a used replacement is available should the need arise.
I will keep on reading up in here and of course once I and one will come back and share some pictures.
My goal is going to be finding a sedan that is bone stock. A tall order but not impossible.

You're right, finding a clean, stock LNF sedan will be a task. But if you look long enough you will find one. The cobalts are great cars with a lot of potential, and relatively easy to work on compared to some of the other cars in it's class.
The best thing you can do it read on here. There's a ton of good info. Good luck on your search and welcome to the jungle.

Good luck finding one, I spent 6 months looking, found two. One was trash when I got there to look at it, the other was a gem but the guy backed out on our deal. Settled for a rally yellow coupe with 38k miles. Be prepared to travel, the gem I found was 700 miles away. I was going to fly there

Idk where you heard that man. the stock axles on theses cars are absolutely huge. you shouldnt be breaking them unless your making crazy power and constantly launching the car at the drag strip lol. the stock axles are probably the most reliable on these cars lol. our weakest point is 3rd gear going because of the power levels. good luck though man on finding your sedan def a rare sighting to find a nice one lol

^ Exactly sort of. Transaxle can be front or rear wheel drive. It's called a transaxle when the one unit houses the transmission AND axle assembly.

I realize this will take patience and time. Both of which I have. There is a super low mile silver one locally for sale. Priced kind of high but with the miles / condition of that car I do not blame the seller for their asking price.
Thank you.
I didn't make any mention of CV shaft. Only the transaxle. I have read many many threads where people have cracked their cases due to abuse *wheel hop*. Maybe I'm wrong and this isn't very common but the forums make it seem that's the most common cause of failure.

Hey, another local.
The stock, super low mile silver sedan on Craigslist I'm sure you've seen is as good as it's going to get. Yeah the guy is asking a lot but for it, but for what you want you won't find a better car.

Oh yeah i'm aware it's probably worth what they're asking and am certain I will never find one as clean, stock and low mile as that one.
I just have a problem paying $16k for a Cobalt. **No disrespect intended**
Who knows though, I may just end up with it if it's still around in the next couple months.
I am determined to get a sedan though. I know that will take time and patience and probably a flight.

Welp it's official. I am the proud new owner of an 09 Sedan
It's blue, got Hahn piping, intercooler, turbo back exhaust.
I have had a VERY busy day so I wasn't able to really dig into the car and see what else has been upgraded.
She sure pulls good. Running ~20psi boost with whatever tune is in it.
HPTuners ordered. Hopefully it doesn't have a locked tune in it because I want to edit the tune myself.
If it is a locked tune from what I understand I can find a stock 09 .bin and over write whatever's on it now. I hope this is true. If not i'll find a stock ecu and replace it.
The thing looks brand new inside. The only wear I can see is the shift boot and drivers floor mat.
The exterior looks very nice. Has a few touched up chips here and there but to be expected for a driven car.
It's got some really fancy looking coil overs on the front. **EDIT BC coilovers**
It's also got some really nice looking aftermarket shifter in it. I will need to do some adjustment because sometimes it goes right into reverse and other times it just refuses to go.
Pics to come

It's got every bolt on I can imagine already.
Hahn pipes all over, hahn intercooler, hahn turbo back exhaust, TWM shifter, ZZP mounts etc etc etc.
Here's the pictures from the ad the last owner had up.
***NOT MY KIDS!***
I'll start a proper introduction thread or something as soon as I can get a nice day + clean car.

1 of 40 Imperial Blue Sedans
1 of 10 Ebony Premium Cloth W/Inserts
Too bad no-one cares about these cars except us.
