New Cobalt SS/SC/TC?

Hey all, I just got a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS/SC car. I drove a six hour round trip and traded for it at a Chevy stealership in Abington, Virginia. Some interesting things about my car is that the VIN is a turbo vin according to a Chevy dealership I took it to but the car came with a supercharged motor from factory. The Chevy service manager said that it must have been one of those "in between" cars when they were about to start producing the turbo cars and they ended up building a supercharged car with a turbo vin. Seems pretty interesting. Funny enough the day before the service manager told me this he said "Someone has added a turbo grilled to this car" and then ironically enough he said "So that grilled wasn't added, it's factory". Anyways the service manager said my car has: Stage 2 pulley, Pacesetter header, ZZ performance intake, possibly a LS4 throttle body, Black cat custom gauges, and the car is probably tuned. I want to add some pictures to show everyone the car, but every nearly every feature I try to do on this forum it logs me out of my account and wont let me do including trying to upload pictures to album. Thanks everyone for reading. I hope to receive help with future work on this car and be able to give help to others as well. Thanks for reading!

Thanks,

Cameron

If it's 2006 it's two years away from being a TC car. I think your dealership just doesn't know what they're talking about.

Yea the vin thing really doesnt make sense to me either.

For pics, make a photobucket account and upload them there. Then you can copy the img code and paste it here.

Its just a fuckup in gm's system. It shows mine is supercharged in vehicle description in global warranty management (gm vehicle history program) lol, but when you go down to rpo code list it shows the correct description for the engine and whatnot. (I have a 08 turbo)

They just haven't seen enough of them to know better. They may think they know what they are talking about but they don't lol. Sales department at my work had only two guys who actually know their ****.

Very nice, that pic makes it almost look purple. like the blue theme but I personally would have went with black radio with blue trim not the other way around.

Thanks Kolt. I didn't do any of the modifications to this car it was all done like this when I bought it. I personally would have done a black and green theme if I had been the one doing it. The radio is gone though I just bought a Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX that's going in it next week. Also dealer told me it had a stage 2 pulley on it any way to verify that? I know the intake is a ZZP as well as the radiator/heat exchanger (are those called the same thing on these cars?) also is there a way to tell if the car has been tuned? Sorry for so many questions but I'd really like to know. I'm pretty savy with cars just never owned anything this new or anything that has forced induction so that is all new to me.

Thanks,

Cameron

take a look at the pulley, it should have a company label on it as well as a pulley size, with that we can give you a stage. If you have HPTuners you can log it and see how it runs to determine how well it's tuned, otherwise you can pickup a bluetooth obd2 dongle for like $10 bucks and download the TORQUE app on your phone, it allows you to log through a bluetooth connection onto your phone.

My pulley doesn't have anything written on it that I see. The guy at the dealership said it was a stage 2 GM kit. He said you can tell by how much clearance I have that it's a smaller pulley and said I could also measure it. Is this correct?

Sounds about right. The ones I just looked at online had 4 bolts whereas mine has none I didn't notice that. Also I had them check why my "low coolant" light was coming but I wasn't overheating and I've added some coolant but seems like it's low again although the car isn't overheating. The dealer tried to screw me on the coolant tank they wanted to charge me 150 bucks for the tank with the sensor built in and 200 dollars for the labor to install it. Of course I didn't fall for this. They left my coolant sensor unplugged but the tank is low right now it's about a quarter of the way full cold whereas it should be half full when cold according to the line. Anyone have any insight on this? Car runs great and doesn't overheat. I just have to clear that low coolant light when I start the car up and I leave it on the coolant temp and just keep an eye on it and it never gets over 180 ish and usually runs about 170-180. Unless I'm going really slow in traffic or when I go slow coming up my gravel driveway. Anyone have any insight on this? Thanks so much everyone for all the help!

The good news is if you think it's quick now then get that pulley changed out and it'll open up more power.
