new memeber 06 cobalt 2.4ss

Bought a 2.4 ss 5spd. Its a fun car with 99xxx miles but its turned into problems. I have cat back 2.5in exhaust and k&n drop in filter. Those been on it whwn i first bought it at 86xxx miles. Now its throwing a p0300 small evap code that i cant figure out and a random misfire code i cant figure out. Dont really affect car much but sometimes ill be driving and go to get into it and its like rpms dont move there like stuck but if i push in clutch rev it up let out that malfunction goes away. Im looking for more mods to do to car and looking for good tuner near frederick md. Of you have any opinions or thoughts on my code problems any info will help. New to the 4cylinder group came from 76 z28 camaro and 91 foxbody gt. Anything helps

Could be a bad gas cap or a small hole in an evap line.

Easiest way to fix that is smoke test the evap system.

Ok ill call around. Another ? I just went out and bought a header when it comes i was just going to gut my cat because where i live i need the appearance of having oem components but dont have emissions. Is it a good idea to gut it or will it just cause problems. I already have a catback

Boost is the best bang for your buck on these cars. The 2.4 can hold 400ish hp with a reliable tune.

Supercharger kits can be had for cheap.

definitely just the stock swap is enough for most people, you can then do other cooling mods and a smaller pulley to make a reliable 260-280whp if its a manual transmission.

Id love to build something to kinda keep up wit my 91 mk3 single turbo supra. I love speed and the more horse power the better. Just starting slow because supra took up to much funds way to fast. Just need pointed in right direction with baby steps and need to find a good tuner in md to tune what i will have after the header install.
