Starcraft sucks.

On that gaming note, I just ordered up my new computer the other day. The thing is a gaming beast. Ibuypower.com is the best gaming computer site anywhere. I got a completely custom setup and they assemble and ship it to me.

I'm sure nobody has any interest, but I thought I'd offer up purchasing my old one to you guys first. Specs:

Sony Viao Desktop
Intel P4 3.0GHz HT
2.5MB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS 256MB
Microsoft office 2007 student edition (legally registered, too!)

I run COD4 on it with zero chop. An upgraded power supply would really make the vid card scream. I'm looking for $500 but would be willing to negotiate. I'm posting on craigslist at the end of the week, so let me know soon if you're interested. Peace

Quads are overrated. Unless you're the world's busiest multitasker, a duo will do any anyone just fine.

750 Sli
core 2 duo 3.0ghz, 1333fsb
9800 gtx 512MB
4gb RAM
800 watt power supply
enough said.

That setup will run Crysis at over 100 fps w/ full blast graphic settings, it'll blow the damn doors off of COD4 or any of the Tom Clancy shooters. In a couple years drop in a second GTX and shazzam! Twice the graphics processing for pennies.

I agree about the quad cores.. unless you're doing some kind of virtualization, there's no point. There are next to no apps even written yet that will take advantage of 4 processors.

I need to build a new one some time. I'm still on an AMD 3200+ with a GeForce 6800 GT.

Dude, I run 4 games at once. The thing i need quads or 8 cores for is encoding video, makes it so much faster.... Oh yeah and I run linux so it can actually use the cores :P

You may get use out of 4 cores if that's what you use them for. I'll never go that ***** deep into computers. Just run my games flawlessly at 200+ FPS and I'll be a happy camper.

what i should do is just get another ps3, so i can 7 core that *****. hahha. I just encode divx to mpeg4 dvd video format for the mac/linux to burn to playable dvd's.

My server is just dual p3's with 2tb of data storage, but my "gaming" capable rig is
AMD 3200+ 64 bit althon
1.5gb ddr 400mhz ram
1TB hdd
ATi 9600XT 128mb video card

That sucker ran doom 3 in the "ultra" mode almost perfectly..so i see no reason to upgrade the pc yet.

Oh i got my car back yesterdya!!!! omg i missed boost so much. Today im going to try to install my Cobb SRI, see how that goes, cant wait to hear the difference....

wow, very impressive. mine is pretty sweet but not like that. crysis ran on all the high end settings, downside was it was a lil jumpy.

i only have:

2.8 pentium 4
750 gig hd
2 gb ram (going to 4 gb soon)
audigy soundblaster xfi platinum audio card
ati radion x1600 pro 512 mb vid card
a decent tv tuner for the audio editing, can't think of the name now
7.1 surround sound pushin 700 watts, 210 from the sub (to come within the month hopefully) got a 4.1 now by klipsh

and this is my laptop

Me too.. actually.. Only have a single proc but I do virtualization on it.

I also play doom3 on occasion. Love id for the linux binaries for their games. Carmack is a cool dude.

Most of my web browsing occurs on my macbook though

mac ftw!!! idk if you've ever used the PPC mac's..but those intel mac's just freaking scream compared to the ppc for daily use. I got my parents a minimac ppc, then like 2 months later the intel minimac came out..kinda mad but the ppc was still cheaper.

i installed my intake last night!! HOLY ***** its bad ass, the turbo spool and recirc "BOV" are loud now. I cant tell if its faster, i mean how do you tell if your fast car is faster...once boost kicks in its just like screaming and *** going every where, i dont pay attention to my butt dyno. When I make it to the cities ill post up some vids. This is pretty much what the TC balt will sound like with a intake.
