sounds like the 25th is sucking for alot of people. 18th sucks for me all morning, but I should be back into town around noonish.

How does the 18th work for everyone else?

I work a stone's throw away from that. I'm going to walk the block in the morning and check it out. I went to the U and lived in NE mpls for 12 years. I've been on that bridge countless times. They have to have some traffic cameras through there, I wonder how long it will take them to release the footage. 7 confirmed dead at this point, I'm positively shocked that number is not higher.

i'm amazed the death toll is as low as it is too, i figured higher. such a terrible disaster, not just now but for the next few years till it get rebuilt. it's not like it was a light use bridge, getting from the north to the south is going to be interesting for a few years. my cousin lives a few blocks away and she was out there helping one guy that got out of his car, i seen her on wcco for a moment. hopefully the death toll doesn't go any higher and everyone gets home okay. i'm curious about what caused it, sounds like it was jsut inspected last year.

that was pretty bad, i was supposed to be crossing that bridge about that time too. i was runnin a lil late to the twins game pickin some people up and got to the split off from 35w and 280 when the first truck showed up there sayin it was just a car accident. kinda weird when you think you woulda been drivin on it or right next to it. last i heard were 7 confirmed deaths, 70 in non crit condition and 22 in crit condition but those numbers were through texts from people checkin on me that knew i was goin that way as the night went on

i think it's really stupid that it happened at all cuz one of my friends that i was talkin with last night was tellin me about his mom that works for some place that keeps the eye out on the bridge status or however you want to say that and i guess back in 2002 they saw that the bridge had stress fractures forming in the main supports so they were only fixing the look of the bridge, nothing to fix the fractures. they had votes against repairing that probably just to save money and now look what happened

and one really stupid thing is people immediatly blammed terrorism... i think that's just stupid as hell, that had nothing to do with it and i didn't have to have people go in there and investigate the scene to tell me that

I was watching channel 5, and they had this windbag in studio giving commentary. It wasn't even 7pm and he was ranting that the reason this happened is because we have not raised the gas tax. yea, it has nothing to do with the deadbeats sucking the coffers dry, it has to do with us not taxing citizens with jobs for more of their money. I just found it insulting for the people on the bridge that this guy was using it to make a political statement not even an hour after it happened. douche bag.

^ there's actually a good article about that on the star tribune.

despite the guy shouldn't have said anything that soon after this tragedy... he does have a point.

our state government has ran steeply on the cheap side.

you might have to sign up for the free 7 day pass to view this. meh, something to ponder
