Anyone in MN know a shop that can supercharge or turbocharge an 07 2.4 that is totally stock? I'm hoping to do this as cheaply as possible while using decent parts and an installer that knows what he or she is doing. Perhaps an LSJ swap would be ideal, if some shops around here end up having extra kits from those who upgrade to a turbo. Or perhaps I could get a kit off the forums and have it installed and tuned by someone local. The ZZP kit is hard to justify at $4,000 based on what my car is worth.

Ideally i would just gather your parts and make a weekend of it and some of us would be able to help as long as there is good notice.
I supercharged my 2.2 myself with a couple of buddies help.
I can help ya along the way with questions. I wouldnt do LSJ swap, just install the S/C. Your 2.4 can handle a very good amount of power.

Where do you suggest I get the parts? From this site, or is that sketchy? There is a guy who has a complete SC kit here.. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/part...t-sale-280502/
Should I get that?

I'm an auto. For ZZP kits, it looks like the SC kit is a little under $3,000, and the turbo is almost exactly $3,000. If I were going with ZZP, I would probably go with the turbo.
Another kit here. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/part...46/index2.html He says it's not quite complete. I guess that other one isn't quite complete for me either since I'm a 2.4. This second kit is a bit more expensive, but it seems to have a few things that are nicer. I really don't know anything about cars though.

I don't even think ZZP sells the state 1 any more. I commute weekdays with the car. I don't want to go nuts... I just want the car to not feel sluggish. I'm not interested in the car being overly fast. I'm starting to lean towards the ZZP turbo kit just because it's all in one. Is the stage 2 air to air the way to go? Would you consider that being careful, or is that too much?

Yeah I bought one of the first kits made, i still think its just enough power the way mine is. its not a lot to handle but i like it because the boost isnt instant so the tires dont just spin. I run a air to air and it works just fine. I can almost dead hook in 2nd on stock steelies with my suspension.

I really wanted to get one, but could never find a good deal around here. I ended up getting my White TC instead out of nothing more than impatience, really.
I've never had a car that wasn't a Cobalt SS and got my first one brand new in 05 lol. They are kind of getting old at this point. Might put mine up for sale soon.

that install was the biggest pain in the ass of all our lives... it was hot as hell, we started about 1pm and we were trying to line it up to the transmission for about....6 hours. fml. it's in and bolted to the tranny and mounts. just need to get everything back on outside of the engine. idk if i'm gonna start today or not, it's so freaking hot out.
