I don't know how they compare in terms of price...but the quality of their work is some of the best around in my opinion...Powder Keg Customs on McKnight in St Paul...I'm a huge fan of their work...they're sponsors on numerous local forums.

Powder Keg Custom Coatings

They have many of their samples on FB and some on their site as well...here's the FB link. They are constantly adding pics of their work.

And much of that is due to stock things wearing out...ball joints went so I upgraded to the FE5 LCA's...end links went...Moog replacements are much better...FE5 front sway because the FE1 bushings went bad...why just replace when you can make it better, right? But I wasted so much money on this car in the 6 years I've owned it.

As for your car...I'd absolutely love a TC sedan...wouldn't get a coupe strictly because I don't like the look of 2 doors...I think the sedan is more sophisticated looking in a sense and just has better lines from the side....plus I like the sedan taillights more.
Lol look at what I've done in just the last 3 years..

I just put brand new fe5 shocks/struts with yyz springs, fe5 lca's with powell vertical bushings, hawk pads and slotted rotors. My car handles immensely now and I love it

as i said previously, my buddy smashed his cobalt and is getting rid of the things that he still has...so if anyone is interested in some parts, please let me know. pm me your number and i'll get back to you with pics/prices as they are at his place and i'm not sure what he wants for them. he wants to sell locally, so that's why i'm posting it here. if you're pissed i don't have pics and prices, nhanson, 09tc, wickedwhite and probably a couple others can vouch for my legitimacy.

ttr motor mount
slightly used fe5 tc rear shocks
used fe5 tc front struts (could use for koni's if you want to do a swap)
ss/tc front sway bar
powell xxx hardcore bar (thickest they have)
2.4 intake manifold
injen intake for 2.2/2.4
dc strut tower bar
he has some 17" rims with sticky tires, 5 spoke flat black. i don't know the model of them but they have plenty of tread, even though he used for autox previously.

pending sale of:
bad mab header
zzp 2.5" high flow cat dp
2.25" stainless exhaust with magnaflow muffler + tip

also, i'm trying to get rid of the ksport coilovers i bought a couple months back. nothing is wrong with them mechanically, but the threads are seized on one of the front coils and all of the lock rings need replacing on both. if you're able to get the seized one apart, it wouldn't cost you a whole lot to get new parts for them, maybe 100-150 and they'd be practically brand new coilovers. if you can't get the one un-seized, it would cost you about 230 for a new strut assembly and about 50-75 for the new lock rings for the other one. i had them on my car but then tried to lower one and just stripped the crap out of the lock rings. lmk if interested, i can take pics of these and send to you

Thanks! I found a place called twin city wheel up in white bear lake and he is also gonna fix some curb rash and blast and powder coat them for like 500 bucks. Might be cheaper because I didn't have a picture to show him what the rash looked like so he was just throwing it out there.

oh boy. i would assume that getting YYZ springs and using the original struts, would the struts go bad after a couple months? i had sportlines on my LS with the stock struts and the ride wasnt bad but after like 4 months, they just got clunky and ****. drove me nuts.

how many miles you got on yours? yours should hold up as they are a performance suspension and not an econo suspension like the base models have

Yeah, I have the same brake setup you have as well...well I did...going back to somewhat stock setup for brakes due to cost...replaced the pads already but need new rotors soon...need to do the back brakes as well...haven't touched them in 6 years. Yeah, the Powell vert bushings weren't an option for me when I did the LCA's...just couldn't spend the money at the time.

This is true...I mean I had a ton of fun with my Street bar and Pedders when they were new...would enjoy trying out the Hardcore bar now that I have the FE5 front bar rather than just the FE1...but I wish I had the YYZ's...I know I'm missing out but I can't afford them myself.

Let me know if the exhaust doesn't sell, I'm interested. How much for the rear shocks and the XXX bar? Everything is close to what I have...only difference my STB is Ark and Street Bar....just curious...wheels 4 or 5 bolt? Is he only looking for cash or is there anything else he's interested in (any hobbies he'd do partial trades for things)? I'm sure he wants cash quick and I don't have much, but I can do partial trades or work something else out possibly.

I've heard of them, haven't seen their work...not a bad price though.

The package is $900 roughly which seems quite expensive to me, but then again it's a full setup and the fronts are put together already...this is actually what I would consider if I could buy them again...although I might contact them and see about leaving out the rear shocks...then pick up some Koni Yellows for the rear instead. Or just go coilovers from Modern Performance...BC's...decisions if I ever have money and want to put it in the Cobalt.

My FE1's actually held up quite well to the Sportlines for over 24k miles...but his point is correct, since the YYZ don't drop as aggressively and the FE5 are meant to handle a little more they hold up quite well...and other than Koni's or coilovers, there is nothing better in terms of struts/shocks (at least as far as I know). I know the YYZ's can't be beat.

Speaking of which...I know he offers V.1 and V.2...but on CED's site...I saw V.3...anyone know what that is about? Does he have a new set out or just the 2 still? Maybe it was a mistake on their site?

powell now has v3's, that's what i have on my car.

the exhaust is sold. he wants 50 bucks for the rear shocks and i think 800 for the rims/tires. i'm at his place right now dog sitting, if you want a picture just let me know. otherwise look at his for sale thread on here. it's under "blackbalt part out". i also think the rear bar is sold or soon to be sold

also 007, i am willing to part ways with my coilovers for fairly cheap. they don't have many miles on them but you will have to buy one new strut assembly and want to buy new lock rings for the other one. would be much cheaper than the fe5 set up with springs that you're looking for

So what's the deal with the V3's? Are they lower than V2's or what makes them different?

Not a bad deal on the shocks...but I think I'll have to worry about getting different springs for my car and see how my FE5's hold up...I can't tell anymore if the problem is all the Pedders or if the struts and shocks are going bad. I figured most parts I would be interested in would have sold right away...and not having the money immediately, oh well. I saw in his thread, getting an Evo..which style?

I'm not sure I'd really be interested in messing with the coilovers...but what are you asking for them? What did you think of them? I mean honestly, in comparison to the setup you have now?

I thought they were great. Handled like a dream for the short time they were on. The only reason they're not now is because I broke an endlink collar and stripped the grips on each lock ring trying to lower it and the threads are seized on the driver side coil. I was thinking around 300-350. That on top of a new strut assembly and lock rings will cost about 650-700. Which is still 400+ cheaper than brand new

Like I said, I don't have money right now, but I will think about it. If you haven't sold them by the time I get a bonus check at work, I may be interested (assuming I don't have other bills first).

I was going through the parts needed on Ksport's website...I decided it would probably just be easier (assuming I pick up the stuff from you) to just get two new front units. It's still cheaper than a brand new set and I'd have the two fronts from you for some spare parts...and if I ever needed new lock rings, they're super cheap anyway.

I'd just pick up the stuff from you for now...then later pick up one unit...and a little later the 2nd...have them on the car next spring probably. Which is fine. I could go back to my FE1 shocks/struts for the winter along with FE5 springs if Swix still has his for sale. Just to get through the fall/winter.

But like I said, I'll let you know. Would you be willing to post up some pics whenever you get a chance though? Doesn't have to be right away since it will be a while for money.

Anyone here want to look at some 17" rims for a four bolt cobalt? I've got some heavier than stock matte blacks with Hankook V12's and Montegi race rims that are much lighter with BFG Rivals. The Montegi's may not come with good tread on them soon since Banker and I will be codriving his car for autox and these will be used.

If the tires were 16" I'd offer you money for just those...I like the look of my Cobalt with the Ion wheels.

Put these on the car for almost nothing from a local salvage yard...they're beat up, but I'll be cleaning them up soon and using Plasti Dip...might have them powdercoated next year.

BTW, Banker...are you planning on upping the boost on your car? I mean about 350/300 is AWESOME, but just curious if you're planning on more?

Need boost...just not on the Cobalt....kinda wish the next year or two would go by quicker...more money at work, would mean being able to finally get myself a new car...probably a Sonic...but if I make enough, maybe an Encore or Verano. Also trying to wait patiently for news on the Opel 1.6l DISI turbo engine that is supposed to make it's way here...want to know which vehicles that will wind up in...Verano, Encore, Sonic, Cruze...who knows. But since the 1.4 turbo is pretty stout and the new 2.0T that GM replaced the LNF with can do what it can do especially in the ATS...I'm very excited to see what the little 1.6 will do. Over 100hp per liter from the factory...and with some bolt-ons and a tune, hopefully close to 150-200hp per liter without needing internals.

If I could win the lottery, I'd buy myself all the cars I want and it would be so much easier...buy a car, drive it for a while...get another one...then another...sell the ones I'm bored with...I'd have to invest quite a bit wisely though for the money I would waste on buying/selling cars.
