Hey I will be getting HID's most likely before I get my projectors. So I would appreciate you keep your opinions to yourself. I don't like when people talk bad about someone elses car.

Be careful running HIDs in the stock headlights. That is asking for trouble from the Po Po.

^no its not.. i have 3 different buddies running HIDs in stock housing in WI.. not one has ever been pulled over for them (you just gotta make sure they arent aimed in the sky obviously), they have been pulled over for other reasons though
bash all you want with HIDs in stock housings on cobalts, but ive ran them before. they are fine (minimal glare). i mean its not as perfect as a projector obviously, but its not as bad.

lol little bit
Naw shouldn't be a problem. Especially in Milwaukee lol. But even if I get a ticket I have a few cop buddies that would just sign off on it for me.
Exactly. I just want a little extra light in the meantime while I wait for some loot to buy projectors. I mean in the last week I bought CAI, TD, headlights, tail lights, Winter Rims and Tires, and lowering springs. lol

Cops up here have nothing better to do then pull someone over for what they consider a "vehicle defect" just to run a driver's record and search a car.
With my old 3" cat-back I got pulled over 3 times for an "illegal exhaust" but never got a ticket for it.

"Whenever the operator of a vehicle equipped with multiple-beam headlamps approaches an oncoming vehicle within 500 feet, the operator shall dim, depress or tilt the vehicle's headlights so that the glaring rays are not directed into the eyes of the operator of the other vehicle. This paragraph does not prohibit an operator from intermittently flashing the vehicle's high-beam headlamps at an oncoming vehicle whose high-beam headlamps are lit. "
True, cops in the Milwaukee area don't enforce this very often because they don't really care.
Now if you can manage to make your headlight output look like this with the stock housing its totally exceptable to tell me to pound sand and shut my mouth. And by the way, those are stock housings. I'm all for people modding there car if they want to. It's just if you are going to do it, do it right. If something you do becomes a safety hazard maybe you should think twice about it. For example, lets say that you are married and you and your wife are expecting. Some ricer with said Ebay HID's installed drives past your wife and temporarily blinds her causing her to crash and you lose either her or the baby or lets say both. How are you going to feel about that ricers half a$$ light install then?

I calls 'em hows I sees 'em. An HID light in a stock housing doesn't control the additional light output. Thus violating the following WI state statute:
"Whenever the operator of a vehicle equipped with multiple-beam headlamps approaches an oncoming vehicle within 500 feet, the operator shall dim, depress or tilt the vehicle's headlights so that the glaring rays are not directed into the eyes of the operator of the other vehicle. This paragraph does not prohibit an operator from intermittently flashing the vehicle's high-beam headlamps at an oncoming vehicle whose high-beam headlamps are lit. "

go get your sand then. im not really here to bash endlessly n go back and forth, but i still stand by my claim that our housings are fine to put HIDs in. when i ran them in my car for 8 months i never once got flashed. i obviously upgraded to retrofits in the long run just cuz they perform so much better.
but a more true idea of glare people always bitch about can be seen here...
or this
or god forbid this
or this
cobalts have no where near the glare.. the glare we have is extremely minimal at best, where the majority of that is so far to the outside that it glares in the ditch (not the opposing drivers)
/rant

I don't buy the majority of glare going to the outside side of the road either. Unless of course you taped over the drivers side half of each headlight. Glare only on the outside side would mean that some form of control of the light output is occurring.
And believe me, I know, I'm a dick. Sorry about that.
This whole discussion came about because VAPE took personal offense to what I said because he intended to do exactly what I was making fun of. I've met VAPE, he probably doesn't even realize it. I was the one who pointed out to him that it had a GM stage pully hub on his car when he bought it and had no idea what had been done to the car and was looking to find out.

Scared of life? Don't take many chances? Man you're an idiot. Im sorry, I wanted to give you the benefit of a doubt but you truly are an idiot.

Since you seem to want to insult me for my own opinion. And your not even good at that lol. Now, lets stop the bicking. If you would like to talk about this more lets talk lets handle it in person.

I'm not insulting you for your opinions. I'm insulting you because you're stupid and voice your opinions. There's a difference.

I don't know whether to be disappointed that there is arguing in the WI thread, or to be excited that people are actually talking about meeting (meaning there is an excuse for a meet). Lets at least wait until March when I get my cobalt back out.
On another note, anyone in here run Nitto NT05s? I was looking at picking up a set in the spring for auto crossing and running at Road America but I wanted to see if anyone here has used them and has an opinion.
