It basically says most of what you are saying. And there are dimishing returns on performance and a greater decrease in fuel economy going past and ~E50 blend.

How could would it be to have access to one of these stations?

That would be awesome. All the unmanned stations like Renew and Smart all seem to have gone out of business around here. They used to have pumps dedicated to e25, which was a mix consisting of e85 and premium. Winner! Now all the unmanned stations only sell gasoline and they all cost as much, if not more, than the convinience stations.

Renew did not go out of business, they were sued by BP and Shell Corps and were forced out of the market.

I used to keep email contact with one of their employees and he would keep me posted on the season blend changes. Like this.

Winneconne- SP2.4, 78.14%, 4/30 1:11 pm

They were a "Blend in the tank" setup so when they switched from one blend to another, they did it by adding E98 to the tank to bring up the blend or E10 to the tank to bring the blend down.

If I was running the winter blend and they were switching to the Springs blend I would know which stations had which blend. Typically blend changes would take 3 or 4 loads over the course of 2 or 3 weeks. I could hold off on switching by filling up at the slower stations or I could get a head start by filling up at the high volume stations. Life was good!

Now I pretty much stick to the Kwik Trips.

BP is the major carrier out here in my area. No one knows what blend they are on, most dont even know there is different blends.

I was using just over 1/4 tank per 20 min session, no problem, and I'm sure next time I'm at RA will use more, since I'm faster now. I have a 5 gallon gas can I take along with me now, but I still plan on having to run back to a station during a track day. The other thing is that if you get below 1/2 tank you will start sloshing and lose the pickup, which can be bad.

I can't make it a full day at the track without going to the gas station and that includes the 2 (5) gallon cans I have.

Because It kinda sucks, I'm pro tuned on e85 my buddy box tune 91 barely slower. And ya It's safer, knock protection but if It's tuned right you never have to worry about that, and It's 105 cool 10 more hp maybe, and more timing cool, I bump my timing up 3 to max level gain .5 whp literally! If you want power, real power, get a bigger blower/ turbo run less boost! around here e-85 is hard to find, and super inconsistent, one sec run find then run like ****! I may be biased cause it shows little real benefit to my set up, but even on my buddies 665 awhp EVO it kinda sucks. Maybe e-47 is better Idk. Race gas seems to be the boss when it comes to real power, c-16 120+ ftmfw!!

You might want to get a new tuner if you thing you are only getting about 10 more whp with E85. I am making at least 50whp more with just running E85.

Thats about right you and I had similar mods except you had E-85 and our dyno runs were about 45hp different.

^also seems reasonable for what I've seen in the LNFs (35-50whp difference in bumping to E85 depending on location and tuner)

For SC cars on stock blower e-85 is really not that cool, but yes my car made 285 on a 2.8, thats Probly 15 more then on 91, 50 more is impossible, that would mean that my buddy with the same mods would be making 235 and can keep up with me. I think not. Most guys with a 2.8 on pump make ~ 260-270 from what i was told by turbo TIM.

That is about right with a good custom tune and good cooling mods. But no one running a basic can'd tune is making that much.

But either way, there is not that much of a HP difference between running a 2.9" pulley and a 2.6" with a good tune. The difference is in the TQ. With a 2.6" I made 303whp/273wtq on the same dyno that Tyler made 292whp/248wtq with a 2.9".

And PEAK HP don't really mean a lot because the engine spends so little time operating at 6500rpms. The entire powerband is what is important.

But back to your point: Look at my dyno graph.

Name: M62E85vsPremium.jpg

Peak HP @ 6500rpms, the E85 tune has 22 more whp then the premium. Peak TQ @ 4600rpms, the E85 tune has 21 more wtq then the premium. That is a huge difference at those points. And the TQ differences are much greater on the low end. @ 3500rpms the E85 tune is making at least 30wtq more then the premium tune. How is that not worth it?

And that is on my first E85 tune. My current one is much better.

You are probably not as happy with your tune because your TQ numbers are pretty low. You are making the same TQ as most guys running premium. ZZP needs needs to ramp that timing a lot harder on the low end. You might give up a few ponies up top but it will make your entire powerband much better.

Put your popcorn away...

I don't want to start a fight. But saying E85 is not worth it is just not true.

22 HP off a pulley drop and e85...what was the boost difference, and what intake and exhaust were you running at this time?
