Hmm, if I fell down and hit my head and suddenly wanted to drive the solstice in winter, I'd be all over these

Hey everyone just wanted to see if anyone knew this car. I saw a silver cobalt SS on 27th yesterday. It had a big exhaust pipe(basically filled his entire exhaust hole in the back), tinted tail lights, and aftermarket wheels. I haven't seen it around before? I seen a similar one but it had lil vette as the license plate and this one was different?

Ah that might be my buddy that lives down the road from me. Was it wingless with tinted windows as well? If so he's not on the sight...

Is this a duel? Are you going to start 20 paces apart and wear white driving gloves with top hats?

Ok I'm down . You're still running the Cobalt and the 500 Abarth right?

Hey guys, got a question. I've been having trouble with my car any time it gets below say 20-25 degrees. I can't get the shifter to move at all until the car warms-up to 150 degrees or so. While I'd love to be able to do that every day, the cost of gas and the time-crunch I'm usually under to get kids to school in the morning really isn't allowing it. Anyone else have that problem? Any ideas on ways to fix it other than a heated garage (I wish!) The car gets parked outside and a garage isn't in the cards until at least June-July.

Oh speaking of which, I'll be moving up to the Manitowoc area this summer so I might run into some of you Fox Valley/East WI Coasters.

So what prompted this race challenge? That might influence how I choose what we do. I mean we could make it hilariously pointless like your 500 vs my Solstice, 1/4 mile from a dig, but something closer might be more fun.

I haven't had issues but synthetic gear fluid change may help (not really sure of the cause thou).

Here's my educated guess on as to what may be going on with your trans. It could be possible that you have moisture in your shift linkages/cables someplace, and when your car cools down overnight the lines "freeze", then they thaw back out when the car reaches a decent operating temp under the hood. Not sure how exactly one would fix this situation, my first attempt would be to get the car in a heated space and get some sort of lubricant/oil into the cables

I doubt to think that its any part of your trans and the fluid in it so I'd personally leave that alone. Have you tried parking it in gear vs neutral vs alternative gear overnight to see if that changes anything as far as getting into a gear in the morning?

Just trying to stir the pot in here and I thought it would be fun to go back and forth. The 500 is going to be WAY faster then you think.

I bet . Is the 500 still stock?

I'd challenge you to see who could put down the faster lap at RA, you in your cobalt or me in my solstice, but I'm sure we all know who the winner of that would be

Also, when is late model throttle doing their dyno days again? I tried looking them up on Facebook but couldn't find them .

The Abarth now has an intake and put down 194whp and 204wtq this past October at LMT's dyno days. I have some other goodies on the way that will roughly boost power 25-30%. I will accept your quick lap challenge in the Cobalt. Just to let you know the Abarth has gone 4.05 miles in 3 minutes flat and I have video to prove it.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'll monkey around with it and try to figure it out. Just curious, how strong are those cables and whatnot that attach to the shift? I'm no he-man by any means but with things being cold and therefore more likely to break, do I need to worry about f'ing up the cables or transmisison by trying to force it to move?

Well coming from the guy that has a broken set of shifter cables on his garage wall, it is possible to break them. But it may be possible to shoot some wd40 or pb blaser into the cables. Might help.

Those are pretty good numbers for that Abarth. Are you turbo swapping it? That's about the only thing I can think of that would boost power by 25-30%.

^I think that describes it pretty well, its funny and not funny at the same time . As far as the lap challenge at RA, it was a joke. I don't think I'll be running at RA for a few years, I can't afford to lose another car anytime soon. Plus now that I've got an overpowered rwd car and a fear of unmovable barriers, I have no confidence tracking it .

On another note, a buddy of mine mentioned Shawano does track days where they let 5 or 6 cars out on the track at a time, and he said there are no walls there so I might have to look into that this next year. Has anyone ran there? I heard its a smaller track that most people won't even hit triple digits on.
