i dont have a clue on price. but if i were you i'd spend the and revised the turbo kit as soon as you get back. worry about looks after your performance, drivetrain & suspension are taken care of.

drivetrain wise im eyeballin this stage 2 clutch kit from turbo tech racing. might as well replace that since the engine is out the car, turbo wise...i think the baby will hold for a while. i just wanna get it tuned and goin right then ill upgrade later. i gotta look for a place to live when i get back
lets see ARP head studs = $140, 3 layer cometic head gasket = $75 clutch kit = $320 rods? = $340, plus a bunch of little crap i need to get like timing chain and other gaskets and a new thermostat. im prolly spendin a little over a G on this damn thing. i swear to god, this **** better be worth it

lol, thats why i wanted to get a new one, i have no clue exactly how long the chains are good for and i have no history of that engine except the time had jumped and bent the valves. im tryin not to cheap out with this build. i mean if its a rink-a-dink part that is usable then ill use it again but anything that can cause serious engine damage i want to replace. this is my first real engine build and i honestly want to do it right

Usually the chains don't wear out, It's usually the tensioner that wears out and causes the issues. As long as you usually keep up on your oil changes and all it shouldn't be a issue. There is a guy I know that has over 400,000 miles on his original timing chain and cover.
Theromostats I would go ahead and replace while the motor is apart since it's a slight hassle to work with being on the back side of the motor, and they're not expensive anyway.

haha that sort of like the first time i did mine.... i said to my co-workers i was thinking of shaving my head... Mr. Clean style, they said i wouldn't do... next thing i know there is a bet and i came in the next clean as a whistle. had my dad trim it down to nubs and then i proceed to use shaving cream and a razor.
