An engine is just a big air pump. the more air you can get in and out the more horsepower you will make. The supercharger takes care of getting the air in, thats why you dont need crazy duration on the intake side. The exhaust side however needs all the help it can get and thats where extra exhaust duration is beneficial. On top of that the cobalt head flows good on the intake side but like **** on the exhaust side, even ported heads have **** exhaust numbers so thats all the more reason to have extra duration on the exhaust side.

I like the ottp stage 3 cam much better than the stage 4. The four will make a little more peak power up high on an all out build over the 3 but youd lose power from idle to 7000 rpm.

Yeah i was looking at the stage 3 cams after you said you didnt like the same duration, seem like a better cam.

Thanks for the explanation very simple and easy to understand.

Now anthony is running the zzp stage 2 cams, im guna check out those specs.

If i were to do a custom cam... What would you change on the ottp stage 3 specs ?

umm i think 7500 is safe with out Neutral Balance Shafts.

But since its a daily ive read that the NBS are for a more out race car build.

I also dont want to throw my low end out the window, i have some autox and road racing to do

Imo,

If you want a nice powerband street setup and make good mid range and spin to 8k go with ottp stage 2.

If your are looking for more power at the loss of some mid range and are going to spin 8k+ go zzp stage 3.

Ottp stage 3 will give up a bit down low compared to zzp stage 3 but should be able to pull to 9k rpm and make a bit more peak number than zzp stage 3.

If your looking for an all out peak number at the expense of low and midrange than you should get ottp stage 4, that should be good for 10k rpm but under 7k you'll lose power

2 more weeks and I'm on vacation again, I"m locking myself in the garage, shutting off my phone, not coming out until the trans am is running. the beast shall come to life.
nice stack of brand new shiny parts sitting in my garage just waiting to go in:
shifter with integral button for line lock, shifter cable and brackets and quick release mount
beast of a trans cooler, braided lines to make up for that
new trans crossmember (pc'd red of course) for the th400 no more ghetto spacer mount
red pc'd lower control arm relocation brackets
edelbrock 90mm black throttle body to match rails
Holley dominator efi system with boost control, wideband control, and touch screen dash
new main wiring harness, power harness
then a little bit of main power wiring for the master cut off switch and she should be up and running
hoping my rebuild of the motor was right lol haven't fired it yet.
Want this thing out on the street in august, mezz I'm coming after the blue vette lol pushing that bitch to 26psi if I have to

yup just the maf output table to adjust the afr. shouldn't be a huge jump if still on stock cams.

I need a break lol. been working pretty much 7 days a week for the last few months on various projects. That plus the **** I have to deal with everyday at my full time job has been wearing me down a bit. So I will be taking a break for a little while to relax a bit
but I am sticking around to finish up the cars I'm dedicated to now, but once they are done I'm taking probably a year off from taking on anyone else's projects.
