people just looking at my car usually comment that it's good looking. People who actually look inside usually ask "what's the third pedal for?". At one point, I got tired of it and sarcastically replied "It activates warp drive".

Maybe I just hang around a different crowd than you..
Its the color of the car and the fact no one knows what it is. Yes we no its just a cobalt but to the average joe they don't know what it is I put it in a car show on friday nights with my uncle and he has a 68 camaro and he laughs how much people go around it. Don't believe me go to the Uconn car show next year I had quiet a crowed around my car at this years show with people looking at it and trying to figure it out and asking my questions about it. It was also parked in a row with about 9 other cobalts.

You all drive Cobalts. No one looks twice at them, even myself if I'm honest. The Ion coupe though seems a rare site around here (I've only ever seen 3 others around, all automatics). And I usually get comments when out picking up groceries and people catch me using the suicide doors (My trunk floor is destroyed. Trying to make a new one from much thicker plywood).

your car is clean..but i really dont find it more special than a SS s/c or t/c cobalt. they are a SS badged car and that will always no matter how little respect these cars get be something that derives from the history of Chevrolet.

now you have a base ion its on the same level as a base cobalt nothing special nothing rare. so before you say no one looks twice at a cobalt thats not all true. many more people look twice at a SS cobalt than will ever look twice at a bace ion even with the fancy doors.

I mean no disrespect by this. but your not in a huge position to bash on SS cars. when they only time you get compliments is when your getting grocery's using the car for its purpose.

now if you had a ion redline you are more rare and have a cool car i respect.

I'm not bashing on the SS. I adore Cobalt's and would've bought one over my Ion had the Cobalt I was looking at had a clean carfax. The only reason people even notice the SS Cobalts is because of the high rise wing. This is the East Coast where people prefer imports and say "**** history". Most people I talk to about Chevy's (I work as a muscle car salesman, so it comes up a lot) consider any SS badged Chevy from 2003-2009 to be just a badge (and to an extent, they're correct, with cars like the Malibu SS, Impala SS, Monte Carlo SS, and Cobalt SS/NA). To a LOT of people I speak with, Chevy's SS badge didn't get any meaning again til the Camaro came out again in 2010. I disagree with the sentiment but that seems to be the general consensus.

I never said my car was special, but the doors get a lot of attention and comments like "I didn't know they made those". And many people who notice the doors don't know manual transmission cars exist which leads to their question about the pedal while I've got the doors open and I'm loading in groceries.

Actually yes but the second bedroom is going to be a guest bedroom for when our friends come up on the weekend. And according to the lease only two occupants are allowed to live here unless we notify them. Probably will raise the rent if we start renting out the extra room

Anyone ever go to a bar hopping/pub crawl? I'm thinking about going to one for Halloween but never done something like that before.

I will see what options I have if the car doesnt sell within a few weeks. I might let go of powell swaybar and harness bar, possibly headlights as well. we'll see.
