I found this site helpful for when we were looking. The site isn't easy to navigate, but if you spend some time looking around, it'll tell you a lot about what is good, and what is not.

^thanks. Had my neighbor weld it, looks kind of rough since he is new to welding, but it was free and leak free.

Anyone have tire recommendations? I've been seeing good things about the continental DSWs, I have snow tires so not worried about year round performance, but want good balance of longevity, like 50k miles or more

Sorry this wasn't sooner, but I'll be getting my dads portable MIG welder this weekend since I have a garage now Not sure what wire he has for it, but hey, I'll take it! So if anyone needs help, just bring some beer and we'll do it up!

I had Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's on the cobalt back in the day. Very happy with them. Not the best tread life, but sticky as hell.

Those P-zeros are expensive! Are they worth it over the DSWs?

best tire i had was the star spec . they gripped great wet or dry. only thing that sucked was they make a lot of noise on the highway. I had those tires on my car when i drove out to arizona then down to mexico so they saw heat as hot at 120 and pouring rain never had a issue.

I've never had a problem with them, snow, wet,leaves...nothing. High rated low profile tires are not that cheap

I've been running the star specs for a little while now (since mid october) and really I'm honestly still kind of on the fence with how I feel about them so far. This time of the year I have to be extra careful to gently roll into the throttle in anything below 4th gear otherwise I just blow the tires clear off. Then again, I haven't really had a chance to enjoy them much in the warm weather so hopefully when it warms back up again I'll be pleasantly surprised. They also really aren't all that noisy to me to be honest, but then again I'm usually more concerned with the performance of the tire more so than road noise to really take notice.... unless it's just silly loud of course. **** if you want some road noise, go for a ride with me in my bronco some day! That baby howls like a champ down the road when I have my mud tires on.. lol

Once they start to wear down the get loud. I noticed it the most when i was driving on the road trip was when i noticed they would hum. For snow i got stuck on 1 little snow storm with mine we only had maybe 2 inch and i got stuck in my driveway all they did was spin. Not meant for snow. I have the winterforce snow tires on my Z24 and its perfect in the snow.

You drove with them in the snow? Damn dude, you're definitely a much braver soul than I. Lol.. ****, if there's even the slightest chance of snow I won't drive the car anywhere. When I was talking about spinning the tires in any gear below 4th gear if I don't ease into the throttle I was talking about perfectly dry conditions on a cold day. Most performance summer tires tend to such for traction in conditions less than 60* and they sure ain't kidding with these bad boys.. lol
