Hundred Acres Manor in South Park is pretty good. Its not that its scary per sey but its just more of like getting starttled around every corner. Thats where me and some friends will be tonight. Its put on by a church and they do a good job.

check out the website The Shadowlands. They give you local haunted areas by state. I can't verify if any of them actually are haunted or not, but at least its something to go by....

Went ghost hunting last night with my pals. There is a cemetary way down in the woods from an old village. Only legible DEATH dates on the stones are from the EARLY 1800's. Its kind of a F'd up place, tomb stones are knocked over, and a lot of the graves look disturbed....

Needless to say I arrived a little late, and used my LED light to find my way down to them. I was in the woods alone, so I figured I would shout to see if they could hear me. Guess I scared the **** out of all of them, so they packed up and took off. When they saw me, and the different glow from the light, they thought I was some soldier or something, and that my light was a ghost lantern....

Stupid *******...

This is actually an urban legend. I looked into this a few years ago and found that apparently it's an urban legend that's been around for quite a while. Everyone has heard of some kind of "haunted house" that supposedly is so scary that if you make it through, you get your admission money back, or prize money, etc. Lot's of them stem from stories about a haunted house in a multiple story building, where you have to go through 20 or so floors in pitch black.

If I recall correctly, there's one such haunted house in America... somewhere in Michigan (or at least somewhere in that region of the US). There aren't any like that around our area though.

There is a great haunted house down off of 119 just south of Connellsville. Rich's Fright Farms is the name. http://richfarms.com/frightfarm/

Supposedly it's very scary. I think you start with a haunted hayride. Then you go through the woods and a maze. When you finally reach the haunted house, it's in the middle of nowhere. It's nowhere even near where you came in... so there are no other people around. It's pitch black. The house is supposedly very dark inside. Sounds like a blast...

You guys should just come to Ohio, and go to Athens. The cemetaries make a pentagram and the Ridges is an old haunted insaine asylum. then go to the moonville tunnel.

The scariest place I can think of was when the Dixmont State Hospital was still standing. I was friends with the owners of the property, so it was pretty much open season for us down there. (since we weren't technically trespassing)

Now, Ive never had been one to believe in ghosts but there was a night when that place changed everything. It was the fall of 2003 and me and my two friends had decided to hit the trails up at the 'mont to break in my friends new Hemi Dodge. Well my friend decided to take a break and build a fire in a field, so while he was doing that I decided to take a walk by myself down into the buildings (me being the tough guy that I am *grunt*) Well as I was walking the wind started to pick up a decent bit, which wasnt a big deal as it was a fall evening...but nevertheless it was kinda creepy. I kept on walking towards the buildings though.
As I got between the two main buildings I had the sudden urge to stop walking. As I was staring down the road that split the two buildings I noticed a sudden burst of "heat lightning". Now it was 40 degrees out on a starry night, and I'm seeing heat lightning...so I started to tense up. The lightning grew and grew in intensity in occurence until I saw what could only be described as a "floating spotlight" come floating over the top of one of the walkways that connected the buildings. I stood there thinking, why would someone be standing up there with a light...when i remembered that that roof was half falling apart and couldn't support weight! *GULP*
The wind really started kicking up to a high intensity, which really frightened me so I turned and booked back to my buddies building the fire. When I reached them, they said " "you look like you saw a ghost!" as I was completely frightened outta my mind. When I told them what happened we hopped in the truck and went back to the buildings. There was no wind, and no heat lightning...and the empty walkway that was missing all its floorboards...

*SCARYAPPARITIONSFORTEHWIN!!!*

We got a bunch of screwed up places around here in MA, and southern NH. Like Gilson Cemetery. That's a little screwy. There are a lot of places out in Tyngsboro and Pepperell that are frigged up, and then there's the Black Stone Valley. That's a darker shade of scary. Not to mention Danver's Mental Hospital, soon to be Luxury condos, the Lowell Mills, and UMASS West Campus in Lowell.

Actually there WAS a haunted house down where the Chevy Ampetheatre is at Station Square that used to give you your money back if you made it all the way to the 13th floor. It hasn't been around for years and years though. It was like $50 to go through and if you made it to the end, you got your $50 back. Long story short - that was the only place I know that did it and it hasn't been around for AGES.

Rich's isn't all that great. Or maybe it is. I don't know. It's in Fairchance, just south of Uniontown almost to West Virginia. I dunno, I guess the first time I went it was really scary, in fact I didn't make it the whole way through. But I grew up about 10 minutes from there and that was THE thing to do at Halloween so I guess I'm kind of immune to it? I dunno.

You do go through a haunted hayride first, then like a little maze thing, then into a haunted mansion. It's not usually pitch black though, there's some lighting and stuff.

I REALLY want to do Moundsville State Penetentiary in WVa. (It was on the MTV show FEAR if anyone remembers.) That is the closest "truly" haunted place I know of.

I'd love to go visit that place. Looked scary as hell.

Good call on the Station Square thing. In all of my years of looking and asking around, research on the Internet, etc., all I found was the notion that it was an urban legend. I never knew Pittsburgh actually had one that was really like that. Here's a link to one article about the myth:
http://www.snopes.com/horrors/mayhem/haunted.asp

Supposedly there's a "haunted" asylum somewhere around the SW PA region. I don't think it's publicly accessible (read: legal to visit, but that doesn't mean you can't). I'll have to ask around and get some info on it. Ever see the movie "Session 9"? Good movie. I recommend it if you plan on visiting "real" haunted places. It'll get you good and scared before you go.

Yeah, I KNOW the one at Station Square used to be there, they used to advertise it on the radio (B94 to be exact). It wasn't around very long, maybe a year or two.

If any of you guys want to go down to Moundsville, let me know. My grandfather's family is from down around there so I know the area REALLY well. We used to go down and visit all the time. I saw Moundsville Pen when it was still an active prison. The place is CREEPY. Not to mention the whole reason why the town is called Moundsville is because there are Indian burial mounds EVERYWHERE. It'd just be an awesome trip, the road down there is fun as hell to drive on too.

Um, I can go anytime really except next weekend. You can get the tickets online, they're actually not bad, they're like $16/person, which is about what it costs to go to Rich's.

It takes a little over an hour to get there from Pittsburgh, so it's really not bad.

I would say the people outside of Pittsburgh could meet us in like Robinson. If any of the Greensburg people want to go, I'd say we could meet up with you guys in Washington, PA. It's just right down I-70 then Exit at 250 unless you guys want to go the back/fun way - in that case we can meet in Uniontown and go from there.

Arasapha farm. Number 4 in the country rated by the travel channel.

Oh yeah. By the way. Like 1000 times better then Eastern State Pen. I thought that was like a tour more then a haunted house.
