Pittsburgh Area: Window Tint?

Just curious how many of you have your windows tinted. If so, where did you have it done, cost, % tint, and have you had any trouble with police for it.

i dont have my windows tinted yet, but i will sometime in the next couple months. laser blue dan and i talked to a cop a couple weekends ago and asked about the limits of tint and what not. he gave us the book to read out of. you can have your back window and back two sides done as dark as you want. legally the passenger and drivers side windows are to remain stock. as well as the windshield. so talkin to the cop and everything, he said he never busts people for tint, he has more things to worry about. but you have the cocky jerk cops out there that try and find everything they can to write up a ticket for. mostly state troopers, they get bored easily. as far as prices, i havent really looked into it yet but i was going to see if my brother would do it for a lower cost.

Cost wise, I know I'm looking at $175-$200. I checked a few places over the past 6 months for my redline, and I would assume the SS would be the same price. Most of my driving is done in the city of pittsburgh actually and I don't worry too much about them bothering me. They have better things to do. Its some of the smaller municipalities that I worry about. I'm just deciding how dark I want to go. I would like 20% but would feel safer with 30-35%

20% is a nice tint. I was thinking of that for the rear. I was going to go with maybe 35% on the doors.

I want to keep mine equal all around. So if I go with 35%, I'll do it on the back to.

Audio Works on 51, couple miles south of the Tubes. Good guys, there. Dunno what my kinda tint would look like on your car, but we're both blue. Might look decent.

I think they were $180 for black. $225 or so for my metallic fade. The metallic part you can't see through, but halfway up it's 35% and even at night you can see through it. I got pulled over by that one cop w/ hemmorids or something, and he never mentioned anything.

Come on Jon, you know that I am already aware of your tint situation (where, how much, what it looks like), do you just like watching yourself post on different forums? I am trying to survey other pittsburghers on their tint experience. And you are correct, Audio Works is 180 for black. I found another place on 88 that was $150. I would have to see some of their work before I got it done there.

I've seen SOOO many kids in various cars/trucks that are parked right next to LEOs and they never say anything... and I get nailed in Monroeville for it.... right when a lady rolled thru the stop sign in front of me.... but I"M THE TROUBLE MAKER>>>>>>>>

Monroevile can be a pest about it.... NHT is pretty lax on it from what I've seen, but the st boys seem to nail you if they're bored from time to time... It's been along time since I've heard of anyone getting pulled over by a statey for tint alone.

What kind of ticket did you get? Was it a fix it ticket where you had to get it removed and come show them, or just pay a fine?

Thats definitely the best price I have heard yet. What type of film do they use? How long have you had yours done? It looks like a pretty clean job they did on yours when I use to see it on 2nd ave.

The BEST place i've found to get your windows tinted is at 21st Century Sound & Security on Babcock Blvd in the North Hills. They have a guy named Timmy that comes in about once a week or every other week and spends a whole day tinting windows and let me tell you he's awesome! I saw him do the rear window in a 4th gen Camaro all one piece in one try with no wrinkles or bubbles. I had my old Grand Am GT done and it looked awesome(one piece on the back window as well)! The tint jobs are also guaranteed for as long as you own your car! If it ever peels or anything like that you can get it retinted free! Give them a call @ 412-364-2123 and ask for Jeff or Margie. As far as the cops go...I"ve had tickets all over Pittsburgh for that crap! Most of them have nothing better to do! I had three tickets or it in the city just FYI, one on the turnpike, several in Ross, one in McCandlass, one in Cranberry, one in Hampton, and one in the South Hills. Hope this helps!
