I'd say for now... let them re-do them... I had them redo mine 3 times, then replace my rotors too. Had all 4 done.
Over the winter save up and get some then since the car will be getting stuff done.

yah i had a Turbo MR-2 try to race me on the way home. I passed him and he pulled out in the passing lane and road my ass so i pulled back into the right lane, lined them up in a 3rd gear roll and just romped on it, pulled 2-3 cars by the middle of 4th. I was doing 120 when i shut down.

The Dan.spec tune is looking good. He made some adjustments tonight. I had some fun on the way home... get ready for this one.
Now I don't consider my car all that fast. It has ***** for a little 2.4L n/a 4-banger auto... but it's certainly no LSJ car as it sits now. So with that said... I don't expect much from the car. Low expectations leave room for pleasant surprises.... like tonight. I cut through downtown Greensburg on my way home. I was on Main St. and stopped at a redlight in the left lane, which was a straight only lane. I hear rice behind me... slammed Civic (late 90's) with rice all over it (decals, tint, coffee can) pulls up beside me in the right lane, a straight or right turn lane. I see 3 gauges up the pillar. Windows are down, but he's not looking at me. He's just ballin' hard with his rap music. I think to myself, "Nahhhh.... he's being good. Even he's not stupid enough to try something on Main Street." Nope. I'm wrong. Green light = rice in my face. He took off WOT. I say F-you ricer, and I hop on it. Sounds of ricer exhaust and twin loops echo off of the walls of the tall buildings lining Main Street in Greensburg. So he had a jump on me which put him out about 2 cars in front before I'm moving fast enough to stop him from pulling ahead. I'm pulling out WOT and he starts to get a little closer.... 1-2 shift... getting closer now thanks to my new shifts. 2-3 shift.... seeya! I fly by him while he's still WOT sounding 2-times as loud as Dan's RL. So what does he do? What any good ricer would do.... shuts it down and backs off. Good thing too... we were running out of 2-lane space (who knows how many turning lanes we violated by just heading straight down Main St). Right past where we merged there I saw a GBG cop sitting back in a lot. I'm surprised he still didn't take off after us... sure, we slowed to only 40mph (in a 25mph zone)... but he had to hear us. I'm thinking he was chewing on a Donut and not paying attention... good thing.
Anyway... I couldn't actually hear a turbo over the "exhaust" of the Civic... but he either had 3 decorative gauges up the pillar or he really was turbocharged. I wouldn't doubt it... I beat a hatchback turboed Honda at the track last week... with Kate in the car with me.
Props again to Dan for the tune. Always good to send ricers home without their *****.
DISCLAIMER: The street was empty except for us. I don't condone this type of behavior in such tight areas... but the excitement of the new tune plus rice just was too much for me to resist. So yes.... I know it was a dumb move. I had to do it though.

Sounds like you had some fun Yeah, probably not the best place to race someone, but there are times where you just need to put someone in their place, and that was the place to do it. I gotta come out more with you guys...not too much in my area anymore - too many people know about my car now. I think everyone's had their shot already and just lay back now Not being cocky or anything, but there isnt much rice here anymore, and the ones that have tried already have failed miserably There is an SRT4 that took me at the beginning - I'll be looking for him once my little friends join me (aka 2.5", 60# injs, & dan.SPEC ) He won't even know what hit him.

At least you weren't the ******** racing through the construction on the Parkway yesterday. I was blading on the jail trail and these two ricers were racing down through where they're doing the construction...you know, where the state trooper ALWAYS sits. They were out probably my first pass through. By the time I was on my last pass they were in handcuffs in the state trooper's car and the one car, which I believe to have been a Tibby at one point, was on a flatbed and they were loading the second one (Civic, what else) on another flatbed.

From what I have heard from a close friend of mine....
THere is ALOT of street racing going on in the GBG/Connellsville/Scottdale area.... Not saying where, but there is alot going on late late late at night. Not like it used ot be back in the VW Drive days, but seems more and more are coming back out to take the streets back.
You all know how I am about that stuff, but you all are adults and know what the stakes are. I'm not preaching mind you, I think you all know me better than taht.
Anyway... Good to hear those morons got nabbed on the parkway. Good to know my tax $ is keeping the streets clear 1 ricer at a time.
OH.... speaking of cars (on this site?? strange )...
I saw a BLACK Redline on the ohio TPK yesterday evening. Had HID lights, a big silver stripe on the side ( where the pinstripe would be ) and sounded good.
Anyone see that one in their travels??

Yeah, back in the day (obviously not as far back as Brian's day) when I was in high school it used to actually be somewhat fun and controlled...AND in a lot of cases the cops knew where we were and turned a blind eye to it because a) we were out in the middle of nowhere and b) the people there were responsible.
Then insert FnF...every punk with a car thought they were a racer and it got to be BAD. Not that it was never NOT dangerous...it always was, but at least you had a pretty good idea when you lined up next to someone that they knew what the hell they were doing.

Exactly... back in the day ( eh hem... the late 80's early 90's ) you KNEW the guys you ran against... you all had a circle of friends that between you and them, everyone in the scene was known by SOMEONE, and it was alot 'safer' than now.
Back then... it took alot of $$ to get a car that could run... now, to both good and bad... any car off the showroom floor can give you a run.
Most LEOS back then let it go on for a few hours, then they'd break it up... but rarely ticketed anyone...
FFW to 1992 and Sony moved in and sqwaked about it, and the troopers swarm in one night and ticket ALOT of people, both bystanders and racers and even arrest a few.
Things got quiet in our area after that unil this past year or so. old cars are coming back out to play... new cars are coming looking for a good run.
The way the laws are now... it's not worth it... even beyond the human risk and property risk.. which are more important.... but the penalties both in $$, loss of DL, and car are NOT worth it.
I go to the track for my adrenaline rush. Me looking like an ass out there is more tension than lining up at a light.
I now yeild the soapbox to others...

Its tough nowadays to get a good 'safe' (I use that term loosely) run against someone. You have to know the area and have a good idea on what you're up against. it also helps to know a couple key cops in the area you're in (both state boys and locals) if you get caught.
It takes good judgement to blatenly disobey the law if you choose to do so. Just think about the consequences.. After going down to the track and watching people run there, I think I'll be doing that more and street less for sure.

That's exactly the point. If you have the $$ to blow on doing all kinds of work on your car... what's $20 here and there to run at the track... where you KNOW it's alot safer, legal, and ultimately more fun. Do you get tha "rush" from the risk?? maybe not, but you get that other rush that comes from that x-mas tree.... the announcer.. and the risk of completely boching a run in front of your friends, competitors and the opposite sex... who are more commonly becoming competitors ( love seeing that ).
I wish this area was more pro-active in the education end of it by the local and state police... In other states, the LEOs set up a "track day" at a local strip ( between the LEOS and the track, they cover the cost ) and they let you run that evening or afternoon for free to get you hooked.... some of the cops even bring out their own rides and challenge you and show you that not all of them are some jerk looking to punish you for having "fun" with your car. Some even drag their patrol cars depending on what is going on.
ok... gotta get back to work

I might street race once in a while but i never do the heavy traffic weave and what not. Thats just stupid. I only really drive my car to the track on wednesday and on the weekends. Im not out every night hunting down rice, as much fun as it can be i would be devastated if my car got impounded, it would suck.

I'm definitely not looking either, that's tough in a redline. I'd drive around for 10 hours and not find a single person to run. Imagine driving what most people think is an ION with a body kit and a little sleeper wing... no one wants to run me. I'll catch a quick one (0-60mph or 30-80mph) every once in a while, but I see these kids talking about going to 130mph and shutting down cause they put bus lengths on people. That's just retarded. 2-3 car lengths is sufficient and hard for the slower car to recover from. at that point, its over. thank goodness for the low end torque in the LSJs. Most races in my area are over before they are really started and nothing gets crazy out of hand speeds or too dangerous. It's more spirited driving through 2.5 gears and then kill it. The kids that take it too far and the ones that are dangerous anymore. Always be on the lookout for the ones that think with their gas pedal.

Yes... I agree with all of you. I'm starting to like the track a lot. I don't really street race much though. I've probably had 3 or 4 races total on the streets if you don't count when we take off against each other.
Last night was certainly dumb... but I let my pride get the best of me when he took off. I had to try it.
Shame on me.

Ever since we've been going to the track 1 - 2 times a week I don't even feel the need to race on the street. Given, we have been at pepboys a lot these last couple of days, but we only got one race in and it was that Mustang GT tonight. Which Dave owned 3 times BTW, lol. Even when driving on regular highway and city, with open road in front of me I find myself going the speed limit 95% of the time anymore.

GOOD
That's what I was talkign about when I mentioned getting people to the track and seeing what's it's all about. Once you do.... most ( just like you Wes ) end up shying away from the street and move to the track.
Also Es, I'm sure between teh ticket... an accident or two... and the prospect of something else happening between insurance and damage... I think that has a LITTLE to do with you slowing down on the road.
When you're young... we all have that in us. I did when I was younger, and you need to learn the hardway sometimes that it's not worth it.
You guys all tease me ( i know it's all in fun.. i never mind )about driving like a grandpa sometimes, but I get all my "need for speed" out at the tracks. Yes, I like getting on it and having fun on the street, but it's very rare, and in very very remote places.

Brian, like you said, when I used to run it was mostly fun, and pretty well controlled. And we pretty much had a mutual respect thing going with the cops. They knew we were there, we knew they were there and that kept everyone in line.
As for that group at Mt. Pleasant Wal-Mart that kid in the Mustang was talking about, I would stay far, far away. I think those are the same ones that have been gradually taking themselves out of the gene pool along that stretch for a couple years...I REALLY don't want to see them take anyone from our group with them. That and the whole "This one dude did a wheelie right there in the parking lot in front of a whole crowd of people" comment was all I needed to hear...

Yeah I'll be staying away from there. That's just asking for trouble.
You know... another appealing aspect of the track is the ability to race yourself. Nothing more satisfying that improving your times.

Question for you guys, to avoid the problems last night with the lack of camcorder batteries...I have a converter I use in the car for my computer...would you guys want me to leave that here while I'm on vacation. You could use it for Shaun's camera at the track since it ran out that one time, or for at Pep Boys.
Just a thought, if you guys are interested let me know, I won't be taking my laptop on the plane so I won't need it for that...I'm more than willing to let Dave or the Dans or Brian or whoever use it this week.
