well guys, I did it, yesterday (2/4/06) i traded her in, on a brand new 05 GTO(LS2) and i got the premium audio w/ 6-disc CD changer, two 6x9's two 4's and two 5.25's and two 10's or 12's. also got the GTO Performance Package with the 18's upgraded brakes and GMPP exhaust, much louder then the stock 3.5". It's black on black with silver trim on the inside. Perhaps I'll get some pics some time if they're requested, best of luck to the rest of you guys and hope all goes well and your cars treat you right, maybe I'll c u guys at Cecil or something sometime. Best of Luck to All

Congrats!!! I love the GTO. It's my dream car. Good luck with it. Are you planning on modding it at all?

GTO my dream car three. I think it's one of the only cars I would trade my cobalt in for or a corvette.

Congrats on the new car.

On a side note, why are so many SS/SC and RL owners trading in their cars so early? I'm not getting it. Why does everyone commit to such a major purchase like a car, only to turn around and trade it in such a short period of time for another? (unless of course you bought a car with gremlins)

Now that these cars are out, one half of me wants to trade in my ION sedan for a faster car, while the other side of me says its not sensible to do so.

No offense to anyone as financial situations vary, I'm just fathomed by the overwhelming number of cobalt/ION owners trading in their cars.

I would have definitely done the same thing. I love the GTO ('05) plus its retardedly fast and mean sounding for around 30K.

i like the cobalt, it's more that i was actually paying almost as much for it that i am for the GTO, except insurance wise, which it only went up $29 a month. GTO's have been my dream car, the only thing about the Cobalt to me was the lack of leg room and 4 more cylinders. I'm a pretty big dude, 6'3" 245, so i hope that explains also, even though it's not quite as funny looking as me riding along in my g/f's Geo(her first car)

ahh yes, LS1gto and LS2gto, ls1tech and newagegto, you'll find me under JasonLS2GTO

"05REDROCKET Sweet ride man those are F-ing fast man and they look sweet in black good choice and at least you are stickin with GM " i'd never buy something non-GM unless it was an old Cuda or Challenger/Charger or something else worth turning into a project

Nice purchase man. Sorry to hear you got rid of the SS S/C, but its not like you went and bought an import or something

The GTO is awesome, nothing like a RWD V8 muscle car. Did you get it in 6-speed manual I hope??

OF COURSE......not, i mean come on, whens the last time you heard an auto say he missed a gear or blew his clutch thats what they make aftermarket shift kits and tunes and Torque/Stall Converters for, plus, theres only a .25 sec 1/4 mile time diff. from a PERFECTLY driven 6spd as compared to the A4 trans. if comapring the same yrs, lets not forget the 04's are slower then the 05s, LS1 vs. LS2, Can someone in a manual drive around town, eating, drinking and doing numerous other things at one time? sure w/ more then 2 arms, lol, believe me, i'll let someone else wry about having to shift and enjoy the luxury.

Thats cool, but I would never buy a car like the GTO in an automatic. It just seems like a waste to me. Not only does it cost $800+ extra, but then you have to pay the gass guzzler tax, you get less performance for your money, worse fuel economy, and its not nearly as fun to drive.

To each his own I guess though.

WOOT WOOT!! Welcome to the "herd".......just one helpful tip for ya': If you haven't realized already that the stock systems absolutely SUCKS....opend your trunk, get behind the trunk liner (on the left side) and there you will find an amp w/ a control on it which is turned all the way down from the factory...do yourself a favor and turn that bad boy up.....lol, have you taken her to the track yet?.......did you get it with the SAP package?
