Speeding ticket in New Hope, Pa anyone help?
So I was in new hope following a friend from this place called cry baby bridge maybe some of you heard of it. on the way back im following him. i dont have a cell phone nor do i know where i am. he starts spirited driving basically its 1 in the morning idk wheeeeeerrre i am so i have to keep up or be S.O.L. in Michael Myers land. so we both get vascar'd at 77.9 mph in a 40... i tell my story to the officer. i ask him can i do anything about the points if i plead not guilty. he said he can reduce the points but i will not full points or no points. does anyone know officers that are in the new hope county? help a fellow cobalt owner out in a sticky situation. the officer was very polite and i was also. my friend did get an earfull however by the assisting officers that came to the scene. its my first ticket in like 2 years. so its not like i get tickets ALLLLL the time and am an ******* on the road. i usually do 5 mph over and cruise control. idk. thanks guys

My first ticket EVER when I was 18 was 74 in a 40. It was a 5 point violation with a hefty $350 fine or so. I was on my way back to a cookout at some park, and decided to floor the 96 Beretta Z26 I just bought. Well, get over the hill and there were 5 cops at the bottom that weren't there when I left before.
I went to court plead guilty with explaination, and said It was a new car, no one was around, I just wnted to see what it could do. I was stupid to do it on a public road. It won't happen again. They dropped it to 49 in a 40, 1 point, and $100 fine.
5 points would've lost my license.
Go to court plead guilty with explaination and tell the judge your story. They'll drop the points down and the fines down.
Go to pep boys and buy a $50 radar dectector.

2 things:
1) PA locals use VASCAR, ESP, or ENRADD. They're basically timing devices that calculate the speed by using the distance you traveled in x amount of time. Radar detectors will never help on these.
2) A 50$ pepboys special is going to be unreliable and fail you.
Anyways, for a 77.9 in a 40, a reduction of points is better than full points. I highly doubt (unless you get a good hookup or find a way to get it completely dismissed) you'll get out of that with no points if you lose. If you get convicted of the original charge, you will need to attend a departmental hearing. You were going about 37.9MPH over the limit, and in PA, in PA, 31 over is considered into insta-suspension territory.

Did you not read the whole post or is comprehension the issue here? I for one have had to follow ppl in area's where I'm not sure where I'm at numerous times. It's happened 2 or 3 times where they drive like idiots and I have to keep up just so I can get home. I don't know about you, but if I'm in the middle of nowhere and it's either drive around til I find something useful like a gas station or the random roadsign for hours OR keep up with said friend and get home in half the time or better, I'm going to go with keeping up with my friend.

keep in mind in new hope NOTHING is open 24/7 INCLUDING gas stations that i know of. so i think he has a comprehension issue. that being said i think i did say its my first speeding ticket in years? but there will be stupid people on this forum...
