I've heard the same from other forums and a few buddies of mine backed this up. They elaborated more saying that cops will be inspecting every vehicle coming in and out of the show for an non-street legal mods (no cats, loud exhausts, side exit exhausts, tints, ect ect). Whether or not they will be going to the extent of inspecting each vehicle with undercarriage mirrors is questionable, however I personally don't think I will be risking the chance of a hefty ticket none the less so I think I'm out.

Why does law enforcement have such a hard on for this show? Why all the attention?

I'm not feeling good about my ride. I had lots of problems last week and I'll be hard pressed to get the car to where I want it to look by show time.

I was supposed to get my calipers powdercoated last week. Took them off and started to break them down and found out that my slide pins on my brembos were seized up, and that my drivers rear caliper was seized and had a torn boot. Spent $250 on a caliper and pins (overnighted since my car was taking up a lift), and then couldn't afford the powdercoating. So I blasted the calipers and painted them with spray on caliper paint. After 48 hours the calipers were still tacky and got all messed up putting them on the car, so I pulled them back off and blasted them clean again. They are on the car as bare aluminum now.

Then my new wheels and tires came in and the wheels dont fit. They hit the brembos.

So, before the show, I've still got to figure out wheels, try to ignore the calipers that I now hate, repaint my chipped bottom front lip, install my new retros, clear my tail lights, and wash and detail the car.

We'll see, I guess.

^ thats no good. we painted them and you drove home same day weird they were tacky after 48 hrs. Stock rims FTW just put your summers back on them. were all meeting up on 495 at the rest stop we usually meet up at.

I don't think they would take the time to check 600 cars in and out for stupid stuff like tint or exhaust. As long as you don't rev like crazy or do anything stupid we all will be fine.

there going to be checking cars that have the load ass muffler on them and are like a inch from the ground are cobalts will get in no problem. its all the civic kids and vw and subaru that need to worry

yeah my tints state minimum and other then that all i have is my tsudo exhaust and that isnt to bad. and like someone else said im sure ther not going to check like 600+ cars. PLUS why would they tell us in advanced i bet they would LOVE to surprise everyone and get all those tickets. so im calling BS :guns:

yeah i have been going the past 4 years they dont do much but if you speed on the road going to the show you will get stopped and there state cops

Exactly. Unless there is something obvious illegal there won't be a problem. What do you think about front license plate? I know a lot of people take them off.

keep your front plate on and make sure there is nothing covering them. i got stopped for having a tinted cover over the front and rear plate.

I have both of mine with no cover. I've seen cars with the clear cover thats all dirty, and recently a truck with a clear cover and 3 red LED lights across the top of the plate. They were so bright and reflected off the cover I couldn't read the plate lol

I'd love for it to be complete BS trust me, but with as loud as my exhaust is (full 3" turbo back straight pipe) I'm not willing to take the chance.. sorry.. I'm not willing to be the test guinea pig here. :thumbsdow

Plus I'm pretty sure you heard my exhaust at On Track Karting that one time. I love the sound of my exhaust, but if that was you there then you know first hand how loud it is.... If not then CTCar at least knows exactly what I'm talking about.

On the weather this morning it's showing rain for this whole weekend, so who knows if it will still happen.

Also my buddy is in the central car club and they have a show may 1st if people are interested in that. No cops inspecting haha

central? i think thats where i went last year with my brother and some buddies for the first time. it was alot of fun. were u there? did it have the twin turbo supra that was AUTOMATIC aha? because that was the show i went to.. idk when or where it was. it was in a parking lot haha next to a parking garage, thats all i could tell ya.

I wasn't there last year, I plan to go this year.

Also for everyone worried about the cops checking illegal mods (tints, ride height, loud exhaust, etc) that was all a rumor. There still isn't a loud exhaust contest and no race cars, but the cops will be doing the same thing they do every year, just drive normal and you will be fine. Their twitter also says it's rumours, like I said... And yeah man sounds like your exhaust is prob loud I wouldn't chance it ether. Pretty much they said as long as your not burning out being an idiot your good.

I personally can't wait.. Gonna be fun.
We should list how many people meeting at the spot before so we can kinda have a guess how many of us are gonna be there. so that way we dnt have like 10 people and leave when wer expecting like 50 lol

Hey everyone, the Uconn Car Club officers wanted to send out a friendly reminder that our show is happening this saturday (rain or shine - as of right now it looks like 'shine') in W-Lot on the Uconn Storrs campus. The lot will be clearly marked with our car show signs. We open the lot at 9am, and stop accepting cars either at 12:00 or when the lot fills. If you want to park with someone, you need to arrive early and together, we will not be saving spots for anyone.

There have been rumors going around that the police will be checking every car for illegal parts. Again, these are only rumors. The police will be present, as they always are. They will leave you alone unless you give them a reason not to. Any problems that occur are between you and the police; participation is at your own risk.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

i cleaned my car out and found the dealer completely ruined my rim when they mounted tires the other day because my fronts wer worn on the inside after 15,000 miles... :nono:
