Billet Rotated Mounts
#253
Shifts are much smoother now, no wheel hop on a hard launch. I was able to get hop by dropping the clutch at 2.5K RPMs (snow tires still on), but at anything below 2K, it was golden. And for people that really do care about the vibes, i'll put it like this: if stock ride is a 0 and polys are a 5, these mounts are right around a 1, and installing them incorrectly like i did is a 7.
EDIT: AFTER DOING SOME MORE TESTS AND GETTING THE SUMMER (STOCK) TIRES BACK ON, I'M NOT SO SURE ABOUT THESE ANYMORE. I'LL STAND BY THE SMOOTHER SHIFTS AND SOMEWHAT LESS VIBES, BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET HOP AS BAD AS IF I WAS ON THE STOCK MOUNTS. AM I MISSING SOMETHING? HOW CAN I BE THE ONLY ONE?

I want to apologize for my previous post. It was totally my fault. I was an idiot and put the washers on either side of the new mount, not 2 to one side to make it on axis w/ the engine/car. (I just assumed, 2 washers, must need one on each side. I was in too much of a hurry to actually notice that the mount was crooked). I fixed that tonight and it really made a difference. I knew something had to be wrong, because there is no way that I would be the first person to point out that the vibes were actually WORSE with these than the polys. Just wanted to clarify so I go on record as being very satisfied w/ the product.

Hahahah, are you kidding me? Man I could have sworn that the mount looked slightly twisted with a washer on each side. The bottom-most bolt was even pretty hard to tighten the whole way. Well I guess it's possible that I just happened to jostle the engine around enough that it settled in place. I'll go take some pics and add them to this post. Well I'm guessing by my results that it really doesn't matter how the washers go, unless it affects the strength of the product.

Nope. Here's the pics.
In that second one, you can really tell that it is in perfect alignment w/ the car. I'm telling you, when I had it installed with a washer on both sides, the mount looked like it was just slightly crooked. Even in the first one, if you can imagine the frame connection of the mount moving 1/4" (washer thickness) toward the passenger side, it would look misaligned. As long as you guys don't think it's an issue, I will probably leave it because it drives really nice, looks straight, and held up from those series of launches I did.

Um I think it is clockwise if you're looking at the driver's side of the car, but OTTP could answer that better than I. Whatever it does, it works.
Damn, ok I guess I'll do that tomorrow. See the thing is I installed it that way in the first place? I had all the mounts loosened and started w/ the front one. I'll try it again since that is the way you guys designed them. I guess I just don't understand how the motor can be twisted if all the mounts are fully tightened? Shouldn't they all pull it into proper alignment?

Like I said, I'll try again tomorrow or maybe this weekend and let you know. The car has never been in an accident, so if the frame is bent, it came from the factory that way. Did some searching and came across this quote from the Area47 thread in case anyone is interested:
Torque Specs:
Front and Rear Trans Mount (thru bolts) - 74 ft/lbs (good luck doing the rear one without air tools, you have about 2" of clearance and it's a long bolt)
Front Transaxle Mount to Transaxle Bolts (2 bolts) - 66 ft/lbs (MUST BE TORQUED IN SEQUENCE BELOW)
-----> Top bolt, then bottom.
Rear Transaxle Mount to Subframe Bolts (3 bolts) - 44 ft/lbs
Honestly the mounts don't really need instructions, they are very simple to install. I just had some trouble with alignment. I'm not fortunate enough to have access to a lift, so I was doing all this work on my back jacking up the engine millimeters at a time. I guess if I had to give advice, I would say loosen all 3 mounts, then tackle one mount at a time and tighten the upper engine mount back up last.

Mine are in the car along with the steering rack spacers and new clutch. I haven't drove the car yet because I need to bleed the clutch yet but I will be busy putting miles on the car breaking in the clutch and enjoying the mounts.
