Billet Rotated Mounts
#326
when should you loosen them and when should you tighten them? this is the first time ive heard of this.. what are the torqe specs on all these mounts for when were supposed to tighten them again?

Yes, I think this would be great if covered by someone. I mean Area said to do the rear one first, but fast98 told me to do the front one first? And really, if you're actually going to loosen ALL 4 mounts to put these in, then simple statistics math will tell you that there are 24 different sequences in which these mounts could be tightened. Maybe it doesn't really matter, but this info. could possibly help me out as well.

I did the front one first, then tightened them all down at the same time - well, rear then front, with the bolts tightened a couple at a time alternating between the two of them. Never did get to loosen and re-torque the others though, haven't had time. Vibes have reduced a little just from "break in" I guess, but could still be lower, lol. We'll see.
Now I think my clutch is slipping worse than before, I just don't think I noticed it until now. Thought it was better (see the clutch slip sticky) but for some reason it seems to be only at WOT in 2nd; don't seem to get any slip in the higher gears where it'd normally be worse in my experience? :???:

no, i havent got mine yet but i would like to know how to put these in so i know before hand.. still waiting for fast98 to chime in about the torque specs and what mounts to tighten first.. hopefully we'll get an answer tomorrow about this and also, the status of the mounts.

Guys I personally don't torque engine mount bolts. As for a tightening sequence. I would tighten the bottom trans mounts first, then the upper mounts. I got the spacers in today, I have to do a little work on them so mounts might not ship till tomorrow.

Yea I'd say this is the best sequence from trying a few different ones. The GM build book also gives a 74 ft.-lb torque spec for all mount bolts. Well, I should specify that is for ONLY the through bolts on the lower mounts, but ALL 6 bolts on the 2 upper mounts that thread into the engine/trans. Another usefull tip I will give anyone that is putting these on is to hand tighten EVERY bolt first. If you cannot hand tighten it, then you need to resituate the engine until you can. Binding the engine up even on one mount makes a big difference in the vibes.

Upper mounts
Lower mounts
Look at my top pic in post #261. They go on each side of the mount shown in that pic. DO NOT PUT BOTH ON ONE SIDE LIKE I DID. I have since fixed it and it works much better now.

The specs I posted are for only the bolts that are either A. Going through the rubber portion of the mount or B. thread into the engine/tranny block. Any bolts that don't fit either of those descriptions have different torque specs (which is probably why people are getting confused, hence why I posted the images from the build book). I think if you look in Area47's thread about these mounts, the torque specs for the other bolts can be found in there. I know this all sounds sort of confusing, but if you just look at the images I posted above, I think it's pretty clear what I'm talking about.
