OTTP Short Throw Shifter Review
#28
Update:
This things is great. Once you get the cables adjusted (which can take a couple days on any STS) the shifter is great. I love how the reverse lock out operates; always smooth and not so hard to pull like some designs.
I would recommend this to anyone asking about it with zero issues.
I would say I have about 1800 miles on it now.

I switched for a stainless steel one because it would ice up in this weather and being over a pound of steel it didn't warm up for most drives. The delrin is a plastic and much more temperature resistant. Also doesn't get stupid hot on summer days.

This review got me all excited about getting my shifter in. Just gotta order some new cables and get an lnf shifter bracket and I'll be able to have some fun with it. From what I see so far the quality is very nice

Did you grab the LNF bracket from Mongorat?
Check out his part out threads in the market place. His price is awesome and he ships really fast. I try to buy from him when I can. It is where my LNF bracket came from.

Shifter is great. Thanks OP
I put in solid shifter bushings as well and am running the LNF shifter bracket, had that in for about a year. Great combo. Shifter works very good. I did have to adjust my left shifter cable to get 5th like stock was. I wanted to be able to push the shifter all the way right then up and have it go in. When you first install the shifter it won't go into 5th.
The ball is a tad cold in the mornings but nothing major. Hopefully it doesn't get too hot in the summer. Car is silver so it never really gets too hot in the summer.

Just got my OTTP shifter, bushings and cable clamp from UPS today (also got nailed with a $75 import fee on top of my $31 in shipping...). Item looks great, exactly how described in this review and 06cobalts review. Looking forward to installing tomorrow or Saturday and I'll post up my own review.
I opted for the Delrin ball though as I need to use this in the winter as well.

Update on this.
If you mess with the adjustment of the left cable (closest to the driver's seat) you can adjust 5th to engage like stock. It is a trial and error adjustment.

Thanks for the review, its why I bought mine.
Installed the shifter, bushings and clamp tonight. Like most of you had to dink around with the left cable until I got 5th to work how I like it. Still fine tuning it a little bit. The instal itself took about an hour.
I honestly don't/didn't hate the stock TC shifter, but this is really nice. I opted for the stainless ball... I love it. Reminds me of the big chunk of a knob I had on my MR2's. My stock shifter knob was flaking/falling apart.

I wish the ottp shifter was out when I bought my twm shifter. The twm is annoying. I adjusted it to were its kinda sorta smooth to get into reverse but a bit challenging to get into 5th some times. I think thats the best adjustment there is for it. The ottp design with the thinner reverse lockout seems like a much better design.

The OTTP shifter looks better with the knob off because it doesn't have that spring like the twm one does. That's nice for if you Wanna get a shifter extender or some other knob. I wanna get a shifter extender but I don't wanna see that spring and stuff in my twm knob.
