I had the feeling that you had taken quite a bit of the car apart based on your post.
I just dropped the rear seats, popped the plastic covers off of the headrest mounts and unbolted them, setting them into the trunk. 13mm I think they were? Then I unpopped the two plastic plugs out on the edges and that is all I needed. I didn't want to take a chance on breaking the clips that hold down the package tray cover, so I didn't. I lifted the front edge of the cover enough to get my fingers in to the box, unplugged it and slid it out carefully. Putting the new one in was a little tougher as it was hard to see in there to get the electrical plugs back in.I was able to slide a little flashlight in there and got me enough light that I got it hooked up quickly.
I've been working on cars since I was a kid changing the water pump on my dad's 72 Pontiac so I've had a long time to learn a lot of shortcuts

Got mine. Installation went pretty much as described above. Harder to hook the new one up for sure. The wires don't plug in the same order making it a bit tighter to out back in. It works perfectly and I love it. Took about 45-60 mins install but I had to do it twice because I hooked it up in a funny order and the wires wouldn't allow me to put it back in due to there length.
A+ product!

Just finished installing the package. Took me about 15-20 mins to remove/install the new unit.
It works perfect. Also I found a good guide on how to pair the phone.

do you know if the mic is located in the OnStar rear view mirror or if its in the driver visor?
Also, I was wondering if you know whether I could buy this module and get an OnStar mirror (I have the regular crap rear view mirror which is corroding) and then the radio would pick up the bluetooth functionality.
I also wonder if I need to wire up anything from the VCIM to the new rear view mirror with the OnStar functions.
One more thing. Do you know if XM radio will still work after installing this VCIM?
Any input on these questions would be appreciated even if you don't know the answer. Just trying to see if it feasible to get this box and get the OnStar mirror to replace mine. Very interested in this product tho.
