Balanced LSJ Piston and Rod set... complete
I am selling a piston and rod set complete. It has everything you need, pistons, rods, piston pins, circlips, rings and new bolts. Everything has been balanced and the rings are total seal.
You guys know what this stuff costs. Sure, you can buy some used (up), clapped-out set that's been hammered for it's entire life for a couple hundred bucks. If you do, then I wish you luck... but how many sad stories have you read on this board about "BOOM".
I'm selling this for less than half of what it would all cost you to buy it and the labor to balance everything... $500.00 + shipping from zip code 93535. If you don't think that's way more than a great price, then shoot me an offer... but be real.

Total Seal Rings to go with it.
The Rods have been "floated" for better performance. This is a close-up of the oil hole for the small end.
Set of new rod bolts go with this. You MUST use new rod bolts if you want it to live long and prosper.

These parts are from a "Body in White". A "Body in White" is how GM (Chevrolet) supplies a car to be built into a race car. They ship a shell and boxes of parts that are enough to build a race car... no seats, interior, wheels, tires or any of the creature comfort stuff. These parts are from the engine that was supplied with a "Body in White". I obtained a "Body In White" through Team Cobalt California. Here's a link to some discussion here:

And a pic of a Team Cobalt California car... I raced as co-driver with Tom Lepper in a few races including Daytona, Barber Motorsports Park and Phoenix International Raceway in the car shown in the pic.
Sorry, but I had to brag just a little.
Anyway... I disassembled the engine that came with the "Body in White" to do the race prep stuff to it. You probably know that "stock" engines in race cars are never really "stock". They are balanced and blueprinted along with some "magic" some engine builders know to do. While I was in the process of building the car and doing the engine, Grand-Am made rule changes that made the Cobalt SS Supercharged un-competitive. GM withdrew their support of the Supercharged version... they would support new turbo cars, so I abandoned the project.
So... to answer your question, "are these new parts", the answer is yes, sorta. No, I did not buy them new from a GM parts supplier, but yes, they were removed from a new engine. They are NOT USED, because the engine they came from was never run in a car. Of course the Total Seal rings and the rod bolts are brand new and have never been assembled in an engine.
I went to some detail in this answer because I have a more parts to be posted that came from this engine.

I don't think these would work as a set. The L61 has a longer stroke (to get to 2.2L) than the LSJ. So either the rod length or the piston pin height of the piston would have to be different.
Maybe someone on the board can tell us for sure, but my guess is that GM used different rod length and kept the same pistons. However, since the LSJ used forced induction, the pistons may have been different too.

I don't know for sure. These are stock GM parts for the LSJ except for the rings. I have read stories with claims that the engine has been approaching 400 hp. The Cobalts I raced were limited to about 265hp and those ran all day long with these parts.
Maybe some of the folks on here can comment on how much hp they have achieved with the stock LSJ pistons and rods.
