F35 diff w/ Team GREEN LSD

i have installed several of these with mixed results. low power cars have no problem with them, however if you have enough power and have stickey tires, it gets easier for one tire to hook/one spin and overcome the limited slip. this can cause serious wear in a short time as no lube can get into the carrier behind the side gear. the first thing you think of is you may have the replace the diff carrier itself, but the metal produces will work its way through the entire tranny and can take out bearings, inbed itself in syncros and gears. whenever i have a customer ask me about a limited slip insert i tell them if there is a clutch or torsen style limited slip avalible to spend the extra money as you get what you pay for. no oem manufacturor uses a diff insert, if they woked and had the reliability of a clutch style they would use them as its a huge cost saver not having the clutches there.

team green is a company, they make a cheap limited slip insert. it works like a clutch style limited slip in which you put pressure on the side gears in the diff by using springs, making it harder for them to turn and making it a limited slip. what the team green insert lacks is clutches behind the side gears to allow the side gears to "bite" into something allowing it to work better.

Our insert had no problem holding my 420hp/350trq on cheater slicks (1.8 60'). There is one in a 500+hp Turbo Quad4 Grand Am, and in quite a few of the top 10 EcoTec and LD9 cars on the JBO, a few of them running slicks as well.
The issue with "metal wear" and "metal particles" has not been brought up to me by any of the 200+ customers I have had since 2005. Besides that, look at the life span of a transmission in any 300+hp/trq GM FWD car. The transmissions in the J-body (Isuzu and Getrag) arn't even rated to 200ft/lbs of trq! Whats the F35 rated to? 220? Twice now I've pulled T/G equipped diffs from busted transmissions and transplanted them into new transmissions. No sign of "metal particles" all over inside the old trans (most go because of busted shift forks, F23 anyway, the F35 cracks the case more often then not). If it really worries you, change your trans fluid with every other oil change (maybe every oil change, if you autocross a lot?), keep an eye out for metalic looking fluid. A lot of the wear issues blamed on Insert style LSD's will be found on vehicles w/o an insert. Granted the wear might be accelerated by the force from the Insert, but the same could be said about many performance mods on a stock car (why do you think GM likes to void warrenties on cars with aftermarket parts).
Is a Quaife (or any other "True" LSD) better then a "LSD Insert", yes, but also a hell of a lot more expensive. These can also be damaged by "foreign" meterial inside the transmission, then your out a transmission and a $1000+ differential.
In any case, if your interested in more info about Team GREEN, check out the transmission forum on the JBO. Do a search for Team GREEN, you will find plenty of reviews, installs, and other info. (due to the rules here on CobaltSS.net, I wont post links)

Also for sale are Team GREEN LSD Inserts for the F23 and F35 transmissions.
I have never had the chance to put my hands on the F35 transmission, so I cant tell you how difficult it is to take apart, but the F23 on the other hand is pretty easy.
