LE5 and Manual tranny....
Would anyone one here seriously be interested in buying an LE5 or the manual transmission that bolted up to it? They have 36,000 miles, oil has been changed every 3,000 miles. The tranny just had new syncros installed at ~30,000 miles. It shifted fine before the accident and the engine ran strong. I rolled my car, and I was going to see if I can get these 2 items out of it after the insurance adjuster totals the car. I also have a GMPP sport exhaust with the 4" chevy tip, and the GMPP CAI. The exhaust and cold air intake will definitely be for sale as soon as I'm allowed to take them off, the engine and tranny depend upon interest from you guys and if the insurance company would allow me to get these items.

What's the buy back on the car? Depending on what insurance is willing to sell it to you for, I doubt you'll get enough to pay for it but you can always part out other stuff.
Wait.......OK I re-read. You think insurance is just going to let you take the engine and tranny off the car??????
As soon as they come and take the car it and everything on it belongs to them. If you have a replacement stock exhaust and stock airbox, you can swap those parts onto the car BEFORE the car goes to the insurance company, but you have to replace everything to you take - so if you don't have a replacement you can't take the part.

I have the replacement parts for my exhaust and intake still. I jsut need to get there and swap them out.
Yes the 2.4, which also fits the 2.2 last i knew. I'm not sure about the price. I guess it depends on IF I can actually buy the car back from the insurance company as I've heard you can do sometimes.

No, I don't think they'll let me take it. I wasn't sure if they would sell the totalled car after the insurance claim is finallized.

They'll ALWAYS let you buy it back, I've never heard of them NOT doing it. You'll need a flatbed to tow it and someplace to strip it. You'll probably have to pay more than what you would get for the motor/tranny, but you can strip other parts too to make up for the cost. It will also depend on whether or not you can get the engine to start or not - you won't get much money for a motor out of a wrecked car if it's not been tested.
Well, there aren't a whole lot of parts on that car that would be any good. The engine and tranny, and my exhaust and CAI are some of the few, IF they are still usable.

yeah the 2.4 tranny fits the 2.2 motor. Just pm me if you get it back and price. I had a buddy roll an 07 ss/sc and his motor and tranny were fine, cant say much for the roof and doors. they were gone.

You may be hard pressed to get your money out of it then. You would still have seats, radio, interior pieces. I mean to really get what insurance is likely to ask for it, you'd REALLY have to work at getting every last useable piece off of it. Plus it's often hit or miss when it comes to engine/tranny in a car that's been rolled. Some are fine, some not so much.
