How many miles on the motor? How much for the long block?

I'm not selling my motor sorry to everyone who thought I was. I'm currently sponsered by cobaltperformanceparts.com and Scott and I are trying to get eagle off their asses and start selling them, if not either crower or JBP. I'm also look into if Carillo Industries is selling theirs to the public yet I know Bob Mull (Evilz24 builder) used them in his Vision cobalt and that motor was a completely built 2.0 supercharge, so they shoud be great rods. Other than that I'm going to be using the Mahle piston, 450hp head gasket, ARP head studs, GM nuetral balance shafts, fidanza flywheel, spec 2+, z Spec crank pulley after some more research, knife edged cranks, and balanced motor. I'm going to build a head later.

are you staying S/C, going T/C or both? Just an opinion spec 2+ clutch might not cut it.

My spec stage 2 has been abused for 13000 miles now and still works perfectly with 250hp and a driver willing to use it. Plus it is not bad for daily driving.

I dont doubt the spec 2+ is a decent clutch. But it sounds like he is planning and building for bigger boost and HP. I dont know the toque capacity of 2+ but i was merely suggesting that he might want to look at 3 or 3+ or another clutch with higher tq capacity.

It would be pretty shitty building a motor inclusing installing new clutch only to find out the thing cant handle the tq.

Definitely go spec 3+. It has been the consumer choice for serious cobalt enthusiast on this site. If you search there should be some polls on clutches.

I got a great deal on a spec 2+ so for now it should be OK. They are rate right around 380's torque, and I think 390 hp give or take a 5. Plus for 330.00 it didn't sound all that bad. Also I purchased it weeks before my motor took a crap. Down the road I will probably be going all turbo, since the twin charge kit is limited by the compacity of the blower. I hate limits. Posably this time next year should be braking in the 30 psi+ area if all go as planned. But for the time being the 22 23 psi its making with the 2.5 pulley will due just fine. And back to the clutch it won't be the first time I destroyed a stage 2 clutch, my old 97 z24 cleaned off a dual friction centerforce with only a 180 hp engine (not stock). If it breaks it breaks as long as the pistons keep on working, I'm getting tiered of these hih performance peice of **** should be in a Honda instead piston.

Have you made a decision on which rods you're going with?

My sponser is trying to work out a deal with either manley or eagle to make a set for me and so he can start stocking them, I will be using JE Pistons though due to the fact that the mahle wrist pins in thier pistons are not the right diameter. We sent JE, one of my stock pistons, so they can start making them, I'll be using the stock 9.5 to 1 ratio, and we are also having a custom aluminum crank pulley make, to help with rotating mass, for faster rpms, those will also eventually be avalible for purchase.

The 2.2 rods that eagle make will not work due to the fact that the 2.2 pin diameter on the rods are 21MM and the 2.0 has a 23MM pin diameter, allready tryed that. The only way to make that work would be a set of custom pistons for a 2.2 with an 86MM bore, or bore your sleeves .5MM over, even then you'll have to check for valve clearance to the piston. It can be done just didn't want to beat around the bush all that much.

Wow I wish I would have known that before I ordered my pistons.
