Ok. You'll need a C-clamp that spans at least 9 inches. you'll also need a flat piece if metal. I used a 5" long piece of 2" x 3/8" flat bar. you can use anything you have thats strong and flat.
Place the flat bar across from the engine mount to the tensioner. make sure its resting nice and flat on the belt.
Use the C-clamp to press down on the flat bar. the bottom of the c-clamp is supported by the lower part of the tensioner, where its bolted to your block. make sure its nice and vertical and begin clamping it down.
It goes down about 1-2 inches. The clamp will keep it there the whole time you work on your car. when youre done and you made sure the belt is sitting nicely, just release the clamp and youre done. The C-clamp I used was a 16" x 6". It was a bit large and tricky to get in there, but it worked good. I would recommend a 12" x 4" clamp.
