JUNKYARD TIME!!! Seriously, it'll be easier to find a wrecked G85 'Balt than have someone sell theirs.

how do you know if the coby is G85 (LSD) or not? Besides the seats?

 

well on your sticker when you bought your car, also a good way is attempt a burn out if both wheel spin evenly than you ahve LSD

In the junk yard!! I would know if i had lsd if i had the recado seats or the sticker from the dealer!! I'm pretty dumb but not an idiot!! I meant if there was a coby sitting in the junk yard.....w/o recado seats.....how do we know if it has a lsd or not? Is there a VIN code of some type?

I just looked on a US "Auto Recycler" listing and found several regular trans, but unfortunately no LSD.

EDIT: No Recaros either.

 

you try calling the dealership to see if they can get the LSD? they have to be available, the LSD isnt industructable.

 

They pretty much are, you can buy them from gm performance, intense, gm parts direct... but they are $1499. Quaife lsd by the way

 

Don't ask the dealer for the LSD. Mine wanted $4500. for just the Quaife LSD. I bought the Quaife seperately for $1445. ,have the transmission out and all the dealer needs to do is swap them and they want $500. just for that.

 

don't you still have to get it put in it doesn't come as a whole trans, does it.

 

Yes you would still need to install the LSD differential.

if you look under the trunk, on the left side, you will see a large white sticker. It will have a bunch of 3 digit "Codes" on it. If the car is equiped with G85, it will be listed on that sticker. I'll go take a pic right now actually...

 

here's a close up of the Service Parts Identification. Notice you see codes such as "LSJ" (engine), "FE5" (Suspension) etc. All the different parts will be listed, tranny codes, option codes, everything that the vin won't tell you.



Here's a step back as to where you can find it. Well, i hope this helps!
