Is it really that nessicary? How would water enter the fender though?
I used some standard rubber trim protector. And as for the shield if you get heavy rains the a lot of condensation will build and and yes you could suck water.

there is not a huge difference in IAT when moving from a SRI to a CAI on a N/A 2.4L

There's no autozone. I purchased the parts from summit racing I can show you the receipt if you want proof.

That pisses me off cause now it just looks like some kinda custom intake...

Btw I definitely see, feel, and hear a difference. I now have torque steer when launching in first, and the intake is louder. However it only seems to kick in in high rpms now instead of low rpms like with the SRI.
Is that normal or is there maybe a tube that's not sealed all the way?

louder? then you did something wrong, CAI almost ALWAYS sound quiter then a SRI. its just simple fact.

you intake is not V-TOK. its not that it doesnt kick in, its that a SRI general provides more "low end then high end" and a CAI generaly "more high end then low end" but for the most part, you wont see a difference, its all in your head.

"A harmless but noticeable result of using a short ram air intake is an increase in intake noise, which may manifest as a sucking sound, and the loss of any silencing properties that the factory intake had." -Wikipeida

CAI is gunna be louder than stock. The resonator is removed = louder. And unless you take off the inner fender cover, or you like to drive through rivers that are 1.5ft deep and deeper, a hydroshield is not a 100% necessity. I've always ran my Injen as a CAI and never had problems. Sure...it's good insurance, but not required.

That's what I thought. And it never really floods here and if there's any puddles I usually avoid them anyway but if I have to go through one your usually supposed to get off the gas in case water does get in the fender when you have a CAI. I definitely got some hp gain cause gmpp SRI is 2hp dyno'ed so i guess CAI is another 2? So no it's not in my head. Other wise why else would I suddenly get torque steer when I floor it in first now?

So if he saw a 1.346% hp increase with SRI GMPP and a 6.876% hp increase with his hood scoop based on his dyno graph, and here him saying a CAI would be similar, wouldn't I be similar to that almost 7hp increase? At least a 5hp increase with the CAI??? https://www.cobaltss.net/gallery/fil...yno_627243.JPG Also he's auto and I'm manual so I suppose that would make more of a difference? (in a good way)

Didn't you say when you first joined that you didn't want performance mods and what not cause you don't race and you just do appearance mods?
