Ummmm... I just read the whole thread talking about "the Camaro gets out of the hole so much better than Cobalt, blah, blah..." And then he posts his best 60ft ever is a 2.0 at a track and usually 2.1 - 2.2...
I'd tell you to come up to altitude and play, but that would give me an unfair advantage...

Yeah... don't mind the 400whp 4th gen F-body that only pulled about a car on me from 20-115.

yeah and his 0-110 against that SAME 400whp f-body would have been 3+ cars, lol
I haven't argued racing from a roll, but have yet to find a drag strip that lets ricers race from a roll, though knowing them, one probably does exist, lol

And the reason I even posted the vids was to show you that if the car is driven right the difference between a 2.0 60ft and a 2.2 60ft is pretty negliable. A good driver can pull a 2.2 60ft or even a 2.1 60ft out of a Cobalt SS/TC on street tires. So your comment about your Camaro SS getting out of the hole so much better really isn't true -- maybe in your case because you couldn't get your Cobalt out of the hole as well as you can the Camaro -- but not true for every Cobalt.
And just for reference, the Z28 with the stall and DRs usually cuts about a 1.8 60ft at the track. Dunno about the cammed SS, I don't think he's ever been to the track.

^ then he has some shabby DRs.... my brother is cutting consistent 1.7s on his stall DR LS1 TA
he actually has one 1.68 with it
a half a second by 60' is about 2-3 cars... good luck running down a 400whp car when you start a bus length behind, lol

Think of it this way... imagine your car... now imagine it with ~25% less horsepower. Yeah, that's what 6000ft above sea level does.

Most AWD setups can't take power at or above those levels anyway, and most people that have AWD can't drive them to their potential due to lack of skill or possibilty of mechanical failures. In the "normal" (we'll just say sub-450hp) car realm, once the cars start moving, the FWD car has the continuous advantage, and there's no risking the tail coming out like on RWD either.
This video still has a 400/430hp mid-$50k-ish, RWD Corvette that a sub-$20k, FWD Cobalt is beating from a dig. The whole thing about slicks or track times is completely moot if you're talking realistic driving encounters or whatever-wheel-drive versus FWD. You can paper race like that all day long and it wouldn't mean a thing in "real life".
Case in point: On paper, that Corvette should've creamed that Cobalt.

...and by the way. Don't get me wrong. RWD and AWD have their specialty purposes and strong points. I just feel we need to hit the reality reset button here on the hype of AWD and RWD.

I'm sure you can all find a video of a Cobalt or any other FWD vehicle hanging with a badly driven car off the the tree... just like I can find multiple videos of tuned Cobalts running high 13s or worse, lol... don't blame the car, blame the drivers
i'll just leave it at, myself and the Bama crew are known to make frequent stops to Steele(Alabama International) which is even a 1/4 mile.... you all are more than welcome to come show me how to get a car off the tree

Yeah, agreed. The driver is a huge part of it.
It's too bad Alabama wasn't less of a drive or I'd be interested. Maybe you can have somebody film it and throw the vid up on here. lol

as I said, since its so "slow".... get in your Cobalt... go out launch it on the street in the winter.... prove me wrong.... and i'll be waiting
don't be a keyboard warrior, this day and age since everyone has a smartphone(which I recorded mine with), you can come up with a video QUICKLY
show me a slip of your 13.5... here is my 13.2
i'll be waiting on you to pull a 2.0 60' on your street tires even on a prepped track....

...but I can run 12.50s with 3 real mods, lol
you give me headers, mids, and a tune with some decent tires(not even talking DRs) and 12.50s is happening(probably faster)... and with a stall? on DRs it'd have a chance at 11s
with just mids and headers you're talking about 50whp, not to mention the transmission tune alone is good for 4-5 1/10ths... i'll probably run 12.70-12.80s TUNE ONLY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkJo_A4E5sI
stock transmission, stock stall, stock engine(no internals), and its an automatic... 11 seconds, enough said, give that car a stall, its running 11.60s-11.70s.. some guys boast about 2.0-2.1 60s, some cars cut 1.6s with a stock transmission and stall
BUT, BUT only 5.0 Mustang GTs can run mid 11s with bolt-ons!
this is where I point out that everyone talks about how much "slower' the L99 automatic Camaro is to the LS3 stock for stock, but then proceeds to shut the hell up mod for mod, lol... once the L99 gets tuned, you better be f*cking John Force, lol
people wonder why I bought the automatic, this isn't my 1st rodeo with an automatic SBC, and history has given us a spoiler on the gen 5 Camaros:
mod for mod: 4L60E Ls1 f-body>T-56 F-body; 4L65E LS2 GT0>t-56 GTO, and L99 6L80E Camaro>TR6060 LS3 Camaro
its all fun and games until you get with a tuner that can make your automatic transmission do work, then with the addiction of a higher stall and some sticky tires, its just a thrashing... you'll honestly be taking a stalled, drag radial, bolt-on(pretty much the basic bolt-ons, headers, and a tune) f-body or GTO and will be having to run the Cammed manual cars for it to be a decent race, a bolt-on car isn't even fun anymore

oh ****, 2 of them! with one of them being a hacked up shop car(ZZP)... they also did that STOCK turbo, and full bolt-on and on 15 inch SLICKS...
more 5th gens in Alabama have hit 11s with bolt-ons than the entire Cobalt nation, which is at 2, lol... and I bet neither was anywhere close to stock weight
look, I loved the Cobalt for what it was, but pitting it in a DRAG RACING war with a 5th gen Camaro or ANY Small block Chevy powered car.. lol
good luck with that guys, honestly... its a matter of, we have more full interior cars running mid-10s, then the Cobalt guys have running mid 12s
when you start talking shop cars, it becomes the majority of ours run mid-9s and the Cobalts run mid-11s.
sure SOME Cobalts break from the norm, Ryan's Cobalt for example... but one Cobalt doesn't mean a whole lot, considering has anyone else got within an SECOND of his times?
the Camaro shop cars are hoping to break 8s on the stock block, they don't bust a nut running 9.9999999999
and once again, even with this war, its fun talking bolt-on for bolt-on, now watch this: $350 cam, $400 worth of valve springs, retainers, etc.... and some tuning... still want to line one of these Cobalts up? suddenly we aren't talking hoping for 11s, we're talking mid 11s or better... and STILL on the stock head... with heads? you're in the 10s... no blower or other forms of F.I. needed
you guys can go out invest in a $4000 turbo and on the highway? give us hell... on the drag strip? pray your $4000 investment actually gets you in the 11s, oh, the trap speeds will be there, but they don't mean dick if you run 12.15 @ 122mph, lol

Im a fan of trap speeds anyhow. Its basically how you compare the two vehicles if traction wasn't an issue..
My friends evo does 12.40 @ 108... I did 14.00 @ 108 this summer.
14.00 @ 108MPH FWD GMS1/Downpipe (terrible at launching)
12.40 @ 108MPH AWD AFAIK just a tune
The ONLY time he will make me look bad is at a drag strip. And il take that, because im not at drag strips very often lol.
So the other %99 of my driving I can hang with as supposedly 400HP Evo 8 in my Cobalt.... Hes car costed him $45,000+ and had to be imported from the states as they were never sold here in Canada.
I think the reason cobalt owners get so defensive and snarly is they are constantly contending with cars worth twice as much money as them, that have more money in mods spent on them.
The cobalt is impressive for what it is. Amazing MPG daily driver that can go like a son of a bitch.

***** still weak.
before you say something stupid. the truck is still faster. the 4th gen ss is a lot faster.
have fun getting your 6l80e warrantied when the tune trashes it.
350 for a cam? no
you're forgetting certain things lil guy.
if you get rid of the afm/dod you have to change the valley cover, and 8 new lifters. thats if you stay under 575 lift. if you go over that you need new lifters. all 16. not just 8.
if you ditch the vvt cam, you need a new front cover, cam gear, gaskets and other misc stuff.
headers, long tunes run 600+. good ones are over 1k.
these mods will run low 12's. not mid 11's.
heads, fast intake, gear change. mid to low 11's with a stall and tire. not 10's. so if you're going to preach bullshit about your l99 motor to people who might not have a clue about them. make sure you post the correct ****.
