Jannetty Track Day!

Jannetty Track Day!
Here is a little summary of the Jannetty Track Day at Lebanon on May 25th.
I had it as my goal for the day to break into the 15’s, but unfortunately it didn’t happen due largely to the fact that my 60’ times were horrible. Also, the off-track temperatures were in the 90’s, so I can only guess what the mercury was pushing on the strip itself. As far as my tank, I hadn’t planned it the best, so I got to Lebanon with 5/8 of a tank.
Anyways, here is a clip of my best run of the day (2nd run when it was still in the mid to upper 80’s) against a GTP. He had a worse 60’ than I did, so for a few seconds at least, I gave him a good run. Needless to say, he was not happy about his run. (By the way, I was running 34 psi front and rear)

Here is another clip of the ‘balt. You can hear some guys next to my brother saying that I was going to run 17’s. Unfortunately, I had my worst run of the day then (figures, right?) but still managed to get a 16.8 with a 2.7 60’.

Here are some of the other cars (and things) that ran as well.
Not exactly your grandfather’s car, but it will do :

The fastest car of the day. Unfortunately my brother did not record this guy’s 8.6 blast down the track, but this is close enough.

Here’s one for the truck guys out there:

And even one for you snowmobile people:

This Elantra was boosting 30 psi, but other than that it was just ugly. The rear bumper fascia actually flew off on its last run of the day.

Here are a couple of funny ones for you. Not a great day for this guy, for sure.

The funny thing is, he finally made it down the track on the third try, but then caught fire on the return road.
Here are a couple of good ones for the Jannetty Dyno Day Crew!
Here is Nick’s SRT-4. He didn’t get as good a launch as the other one, but he ended up winning anyway. His best time that day was a 12.67 at 109 on a stock turbo.

This is Ted’s Fox Body with a 347 stroker motor and a centrifugal supercharger. This was not its best run of the day, but you get the point. It later dipped deep into the 9’s I believe.

And now the car all you Dyno Day people have been waiting for: Ted’s Chevelle wagon. This beast has a 502 with a centrifugal supercharger and makes about 750 horsepower. As a sidenote, Ted Jr. drove the wagon all the way to Lebanon from Waterbury and back again at the end of the day; now that’s a family car! And yes, I’m in the clip as well, for a second or so.

I got to race Al’s Big Red 454 Monte as well; some of you guys might remember seeing it on the lift when we were there. I don’t have a clip of us running, but suffice it to say, I lost by at least 4 seconds. Afterwards I was talking to him about it, and found out that him and Ted had restored it 17 years ago. Running 12’s isn’t bad for a 17 year old engine.
And finally, I can say that even though I was the slowest car by about 1.5+ seconds at the track, no one did what I did:
(poor clutch )
And I doubt that they got 37 mpg on the way up and back like I did either.
I know this was a long post, but I hope you guys got a kick out of it. I know I’ll be going back next time they have one of these Track days.

Yeah, it was a blast! I payed $100 for 5-6 hours of track time, food and drinks were included in the price. Including the food, it came down to a little under $4 per run down the strip; can't get much better than that!

No traction mods as of yet. Its pathetic, but even after 25 runs, I still didn't figure out how to launch. I think the 100+ temperature inside the car got to my head. I was running 2.4-2.5 60' times all day. That was my major problem. The 5/8 tank of gas didn't help much either...
I'm pretty confident that next time I go I'll be in the 15's as long as the outside temperatures are a little lower. My trap was 87.92, which didn't seem to shabby to me.
I just looked up the elevation at Lebanon. Its around 1100-1200ft, so that is a factor as well.

looks like you had a lot of fun and that's all that matters. Now I'm not trying to be mean when I say this, but you really need to learn how to launch your car. That's pretty pathetic for a car that really doesn't have a lot of power. 2.4-2.5 60ft. PUKE! with that many runs, I would think that you would have eventually got the launch down, but I guess not. Good luck on getting those 15sec times next time.

Wow I finally found this thread. After searching for like a half hour on *************, I finally realize I had the wrong site...
lol @ the pile of garbage "Hyundai" (which is actually a 1st gen DSM with Elantra body panels hot glued on) being there. So now it's 30psi? Last time his lie was 23psi. A disconnected wastegate is probably more realistic.
Looked like a fun day though, maybe I'll make it out there next time and maybe you'll break 15's next time. :p

^^Well, I was talking to some kid in the refreshment line, and he was saying, "You don't know who 'Turbo Tony' is? That Elantra is running 30 psi." So thats all I had to go on. I figured it was better than nothing.
