My New Toy (Bike)

Well... After all these years that I have been telling myself I am getting a bike for the summer, I finally did it.. I went searching this year and I got myself my very first bike.. I am also a new rider so I feel this is a great bike.. Some will say its too fast and too new to be my first bike.. But seriously I dont think I will drop it or do anything stupid.. Only time will tell I guess....

I have owned and riden dirtbike and 4 wheelers.. So I sorta got experiance but its still a little different.. I went out yesturday just to try it out and I found it very easy so I am sure I will be fine...

Well on with the bike.. It's a 2003 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R with Commander (to adjust air/fuel), K&N air filter, Hindle Titanium exhuast (not just a slip on), Bigger rear sprocket and smaller from sprocket, alarm system, upgrade LED tailights that also do different flashing things for brakes, turn signals, startup, and 2 designs that come on with a switch. Upgraded licence plate holder, undertail, LED bars in the bike (goldish colour now, will be changing to blue soon hopefully), Tinted windshield, new racing tires, D.I.D gold chain, Gold brake and clutch lever. The bike also came 2 helmets, JOE Rocket Jacket, Joe Rocket Pants, Joe Rocket Gloves, Joe Rocket Tank Bag, Joe Rocket Boots. Came with solo seat and passenger seat.

I might be leaving out some stuff.. I think I got a good deal on the bike for what I got and the year of it.. It's got 34000km on it , which may be a little higher then it should be but the bike has been taken care off well and it's running strong.. Everything has been done on it as far as valves and stuff at the KM it was suppose to.. This is my first bike, so I only plan on keeping it for like 1 or 2 seasons then I might go buy a brand new bike.. So I am very happy with this bike..

Here are some pics..

Its perfect for your first bike, most peeps go out and get a hyabusa or somethin for ur first and thats wayy too much , the 636 is great ...its got plenty of power, specially with ur commander and all the extra goodies! Get some frame sliders on that thing! Its a great lookin bike, have fun with it!!

the only thing i gotta say is if its your FIRST bike and you've only rode things with 4 WHEELS....to say you're probably never going to drop it is a lil naive. Expect to drop it, you will. Everyone does, its not a big deal.
But have fun, im jealous. Im not a fan of ninja's but to each his own. Im hoping for a CBR in the near future. Enjoy the summer with it!

Another brainy gal. Like seoulgirl said, get some frame sliders, and fast. It's going to save you money and heartache in the long run.

I have ridden 2 wheelers before just not a sports bike..

Frame sliders are on the list once I go back to Kawi for my service book... I never really meant I will never drop it.. I just find it hard to I cant see how you can drop a bike so easy..

Can anyone tell me?? What makes a person drop there bike..

I know how you can dump a bike.. I dont even know why I asked lol.. But ya I guess I sorta meant I would find it hard for me to dump the bike.. But ya there is stuff that you could dumb a bike easy.. I just have it in my head that I wouldn't think I could if u prevent it from happening in the first place.. Like I know alot of people who have been ridin for years and never dump a bike..

I paid $5800 canadian for it.. It came with alot of extras and stuff.. Research is good and also prices vary from place to place.. Cause when I was chatting with some people on another board (a Kawi board) they were saying it's a little high in price with the KM...But when I looked around at what bikes were selling here this bike was a pretty good price.. Considering what bikes were sellin for around me...

Ya I love the bike.. It's gonna be lots of fun.. And a whole new experiance.

Congrats on the new bike man!! Don't be so quick to think that you are probably never going to dump it or go down!! There are only two kinds of riders out there. Those that have been down, and those that will go down. I have been riding for 11 years now and drag racing rockets for about 6 years and haven't been down yet. That doesn't mean that I will never be down. Hopefully I never will, and I will be an exception to that rule. Just remember to always wear your gear though!!

your new, you will crash or drop, maybe both. im not saying it to scare you or be mean, but its true, you either crash or you are going to crash, new riders make mistakes, i did. watch out for target fixation, and TAKE THE MSF COURSE! also WEAR GEAR, dont be a *** squid that wears a tshirt and shorts. i always wear boots, jeans, jacket, gloves, and helmet with i ride, or agressive riding i wear full leathers. be careful and have fun. ive been riding a year and a half now and just now getting the hang of it. be respectful of the bike, you suck at riding..i already know this, dont get overconfident and never show off for your friends until youve been riding for a while. thats my 2 cents, take it or leave it

Ya I am not gonna think I know everything cause I don't... I would like to try to keep from crashing or dropping my bike and I will try my hardest.. New drivers don't always messed up cause I know lots of people who been riding many of years and not a problem yet.. Like before , that don't mean it will not happen.. But mistakes happen.. Just like a car.. People go 1 year and crash like 10 times.. And then there is people like my mom.. Who have been driving like 30 years (or whatever) and not one ticket or accident.. So I guess it's just a matter of luck or the way you drive..

I wear my jacket, gloves, helmet, riding boots and the pants... The pants I have is like a snow pant type of style.. Made my Joe Rocket.. I don't think you will catch me wearing shorts and t-shirt.. That's just stupid.. Unless you wanna get marked up big time if you crash..

Today was my first day on it (got my licence) and I got caught up in some rain.. I just took it nice and easy let the cars pass me I didn't care.. I haven't been driving like an idiot or speeding in excess... More cars are passing me right now then I am passing.. Trust me I am not in a hurry to get myself killed.. So for now I will take it easy until I get the feel of the bike and the who new experiance all together..

Thanks for all the helpful thoughts from all the members.. It's always nice to hear feedback from other riders.. Experianced guys and people newer to it as well.. Storys of mistakes are good and things to watch out for etc..

Well here is pictures of my bike after I washed my car and the bike.. I will post a couple pictures and link to the rest cause there is so many..

Thanks for the compliments guys..

Ya I will probably own this for like 2 season then in the winter get a brand new bike.. I just wanted a used bike cause I am a new rider and don't feel like crashing a brand new bike.. My bike is in excellent shape , runs good and is pretty fast.. Like I said it has some stuff done to it..

I am gonna be adding some things to it.. Like frame sliders are gonna be on order tomorrow.. I am changing all the lights in the bike (the underglows) from orange to blue.. And I am also gonna be adding the mod that makes both headlights come on rather then just one.

Here is the current underglow lights

Well who knows.. you can lay it down in 1 month or 20 years.. You just never know.. Same goes for a car accident..

But like I said... you can go your whole life without dropping your bike.. You can't predict that you will drop it for sure.. Does Majority say yes you will.. Sure I won't deny that.. But that doesn't mean everyone will..

Only time will tell
