out of curiousity has anyone in here swapped the rear drums to discs? i just did a retarded easy swap on a saturn for the campus car club and now its got my head turning. i know powell makes caliper brackets but does anyone know the rough cost on that and what calipers he actually uses? If it would be something sorta cheap for me to do id love to, but i have a feeling its not.
i do know that i would need to get a whole ss rear axle (which aint happening) if i were to do the swap without those brackets from powell. and the numbers i found for using ss parts was closer to the $500 price range (not happening for me). if it was half that id probably be down though to do it

yeah I was (not very seriously) looking into doing the same thing. It would look a lot better with my wheels this summer imo, but they would have to be ''small'' for me since my winter tires are 15's. (I hear a bunch of people talk about how their 18's barely fit over brembo's and whatnot...)

yeah no I haven't.
I just want some basic; because I only do road-daily-driver stuff anyway. I'm not going to blow cash on ''sick performance parts'' because that's not for my use; I'm pretty much just looking at rear discs from an aesthetics point of view :P
I wouldn't mind switching the front brakes (or just calipers and rotors if possible) with the ss brakes too though, so I could PC them black and not rust-colour like the **** I have now :s

Im in the process now of swapping. The only things im getting from powell are the brackets and redrilled rotors. It kind of depends what you want to do. Im switching to 5 lug so that means I need bearings too. You also have to find your own lsj calipers/lnf calipers, pads, and rear brake lines
but i guess what im curious on is the cost of the brackets and getting a set of redrilled rotors?? LSJ stuff would be the easy stuff to find once i get the needed brackets.

put it on the lift,
took all the tires off,
cleaned the whole front subframe, lower control arms, rear axle, front struts, front knuckles and control arms
then sprayed it all down with black rustoleum to prevent any rust (just as a preventative thing) cuz some was starting along welds/seams
then covered EVERYTHING up with a commercial grade rubber underbody coating.
so im bound and determined to have no rust on this thing ever!!
