That's what I figured. We determined that my Cobalt is roughly 18.25hp per pound to the flywheel, while the Miata is around 15.5 to the flywheel. I figured the miata would be a bit quicker due to the weight difference, but was surprised to find that the cobalt is almost 3 hp per pound more..

1998 Z24:
2749 lbs.
2.4l Twin-Cam Z24's were good for: 150hp and 155 ft lb of tq
2010 Cobalt:
2783 lbs.
a 2.2 LAP Cobalt flips those numbers at: 155 hp and 150 ft lb of tq
I'm sorry those numbers are wayyyy to close to not mean anything. If my Z24 smoked miatas, then an N/A Cobalt would have no problem doing exactly the same. If you have a 5-speed Cobalt and lost to a miata either you suck as a driver and shouldn't be racing anyone...period. Or the miata has a turbo or V8 swap.
/end of story.

I've decided on supercharging it.
My original plan was to buy the SS kit from a friend for cheap he has laying around, coilovers, clean it all up. And then in a few years, get some boost.
Now my plan that will most likely happen: supercharger instead of turbo, keep base bumpers (somewhat of a sleeper), and no more mods until it's supercharged.
Hopefully down the road upgrade to a TVS. Then buy a new car
But seriously, supercharge it (personal reasons, I know a turbo puts out more power) and then after it's boosted, clean it up.

Finally some pics that show the stance well. For some reason every picture taken thus far the car never looks as low as it truly is. Some of the last before it goes back to stock for the winter. Hoping to God I find some lowering springs in the next month. Just some used ones since it's going on a winter set up.
And by the way the dogs are optional equipment.
And because some people hate my ricer LED's here's one with them off, just to show how they are black when they are off. So they blend invisibly when off, not like the really tacky fog light looking ones. Which although they may be more functional than what i have mine at least are not even noticeable when off. IMO is better looking.
