well recently i got pulled over and was issued a fix it ticket for my exhaust, so today me and my friend put some steel wool in there and held it in with a bolt and went and got it checked off. Drove around the rest of the day and then my car wasnt making any boost at all. So we stopped and looked under the hood to see if anything was loose or anything, and i have a code reader and was looking at the codes and ive had these codes for a while now 0138, 0140, and 0141 and idk wuts up with my o2 sensor ive been catless for a while and have the extension and didnt throw any codes till about a month ago. so im wondering if my o2sensor is shot but anyway this time the 0299 code came up. the book said its turbocharger under normal boost. so we got home, shut it off and checked for leaks any where and nothing. we then drove it to the dealer but on the way to the dealer i could make 15 pounds of boost like i did stock. The service department was closed so we were going back home and on the way home i cleared the codes and then was making 20 pounds of boost like normal since i got the gms1. Dropped my buddy off and took it for a spin and the codes didnt come back on but was only making 15 pounds of boost again. I dont get it!! nothing seems to be wrong or leaking or anything like that its like its switcing between stock and stage 1 but idk what to do. so im looking for help here and if the code comes back on im gunna have to go into the dealer.

 

Steel wool in the exhaust ? you probably had too much back pressure. your boosting problem could be the wires to your sensors not making a good connection.

0138: 02 sensor high voltage bank 1 sensor 2
0140: 02 sensor circuit no activity detected bank 1 sensor 2
0141: heater curcuit bank 1 sensor 2
0299: turbo charger underboost

 

ya the steel wool was to quiet the exhaust to have the cop sign off on the fix it ticket, then we took it out right away. so check all the sensor connections?

The steel wool was added to pass for the ticket. It wasn't packed in to cause damage like your assuming, It was only acting as a silencer. It was removed right away!

 

u sure all of it got removed?if it was that high up the exhaust, could some of it had melted and created a bit of a closure in ur exhaust, if so that could cause u to over boost....then if it got stuck further down. say in ur muffler, could almost clog your exhaust...
even if it didn't melt and just a nice big piece made it's way to your muffler, you could be clogging it, there for causing over boost...then it moves some more and changes position...now its about normal, then moves again and clogs you up again over boosting,

 

It was all removed! Now way i could get caught in a muffler since there is none. It was just inserted at the tailpipe about 8 inches in!
