07 ss sc just starting out

Ok guys, not sure if this is the right place for this thread but here it goes. I just bought a 2007 SS/SC. Its the first one ive owned so im unfamiliar with these cars. The car has 138xxx miles on it and was previously modified. It appears to have a smaller pulley and a header on it. Im guessing its GMS2. Currently pushing 15-16psi. I just need help identifying what is already done to this car as i need it to be reliable. Im pleased with its "power" so im more concerned with making it last. Any incite or anyone that would be willing to come take a look at it for me would be greatly appreciated.

check to see what pulley is on there. GM stage 2 has 4 blue bolts on the supercharger pulley. If its ZZP or another brand pulley... it should say the size (ex. 2.8", 2.9", etc.)

Check what color the injectors are... just take the injector cover off in the middle (held on my 2-3 screws)... stock are green i believe... I'm assuming yours are gm stage 2 or aftermarket so they may be a different color.

Check to see if your redline is 7K.

Any other mods on there? Intake, exhaust, front mount heat exchanger?

It has intake, header, pulley is unlabeled and has 4 bolts (black in color), front mount heat exchanger (which is leaking badly), injectors are black in color. It appears to have a dp endplate but im unsure. I wont be throttling it hard till the HE is replaced. Also has a WB 02 which is not hooked up currently.

Hook that wide band up, it's vital on any modified car so you have an idea of how efficiently your engine is running. Also may want to check and make sure your ic pump is working, those are known to go bad. It may help us out if you get a picture of your engine bay for us. Also may want to replace your timing chain tensioner just as a precaution. And welcome!

How will i know the IC pump is working if the HE is leaking? I have access to a diagnostic machine the a mechanic friend of mine knows. Give me all the same info as a WB i think.

Take off the ic resovoir cap with the engine running and you should see the coolant swirling. You can also pinch the hose on the left to see the swirl better. My 07 SS wasn't working when i bought it, tapped the pump motor with a wrench and it fired right up and has been good for the past 6 months.

Also get a code scanner to read any trouble codes. some people will unplug the check engine light b4 they sell the car.

As i said, the HE is leaking so until i replace it, it wont hold fluid lol. I ran a diagnostic tool and did some "data logging" with it. IAT2s were consistant around 140. Is there anything else i can look for to see how its tuned? The tool said the AFR dipped to 11.7 under even light throttle.

GMR S3 did as well.

Look for 77.9mm = S2, 76.0mm = S3.

140 IAT2 is high if you are just cruising around. When my IC pump died i was seeing 140-150 just cruising around.... magically it **** right as I was going on the dyno... saw 200+ and called it quits... yea those numbers weren't too good lol

Ideally, depending on your other cooling mods, you should see around 20-40 degree difference from the ambient temperature. Meaning if its 50 degrees outside, IAT2 should float around 70-90 cruising... not 140.

Ok. I measured the pulley with a tape measurer from the bottom of the pulley to the top so i wouldnt get the belt in the measurement. It is 2" 15/16ths. The car pulls good but i imagine it will pull much better when the HE is replaced. Boost starts at about 12psi then climbs to 15-16psi around 5k and holds till 7200rpm.

That's not how u measure a pulley...

To accurately measure a pulley it needs to be measured over pins. So with out a fixture it is virtually impossible to measure a pulley. The industry standard is to measure the diameter over 2.5 mm checking pins set into the belt grooves. So the Stage 2 pulley is 77.9 mm diameter over the pins. It measures 76.16 mm to the top of the belt grooves.

I finally replaced the HE tonight. Wasnt too bad but the bumper wont line up correctly being as half the clips and retainers are broken. I also didnt have any teflon tape for the plastic faucets that went into the HE so its leaking a bit from there. Ill take them back out and do it right in a few days when im off work. Also, the IC pump is definitely working though it seems to be surging with the idle. The fluid rises and falls in the resevoir with the idle. Is this normal? Once i get this properly fixed i would also like to do a better tune as well though i still dont know what size pulley it has currently.

Finally fixed the HE leak. Has a small idling problem. Surges by about 60rpm at idle. Also throwing p0442/p0445 codes. Cant ever make up its mind on which one. Gonna try getting a new gas cap and hope it isnt the valve or solenoid. Replaced spark plugs with NGKs gapped at .035 and put a new fuel filter on for the **** of it. The one that was on there was probably the original lol. Its a shame this forum is pretty much dead. I know im late to this platform but im thoroughly enjoying it so far
