I would double check the timing. There is a chance that when it jumped time, the pistons collided with the valves causing damage.

I was told by two different auto parts stores that the motor was a noninterferance

Those two stores are incorrect.

The valves can contact the pistons if out of time.

Unless the beige guide breaks its probably impossible for the chain to jump time. It is possible with a broken guide and a bad tensioner for the inlet cam to have enough slack to retard enough to kiss the valves. That means low/no compression and Italian Joe is correct, compression test first.

it takes 74980 or so revolutions to line up the sprockets with the colored links if you have them. Best to to what Italian Joe suggested. If you replace the head you need new timing stuff anyway make sure you take the car apart with the crank at TDC and the exhaust lobe on #4 cylinder at 2 o clock and the inlet cam lobe on #4 cylinder at ten oclock roughly then follow the book for installing new parts. good luck with your issues

Did you do the compression test?

several junkyards will have 2.2L Ecotecs if you want to go used. Up to you. Check out car-part.com. You might get lucky with a decent motor.
