Your caliper isn't bad, it's the pad(s) rattling around on the caliper bracket. I've had this problem before and after putting on new calipers. On my car is was a two part problem, 1) over time the pads wear grooves into the caliper bracket allowing pad room to rattle around and 2) a lack of lube wear the pad meets the caliper bracket.

I replaced the caliper brackets on my car, that cured about 80% of the rattle and re-lubing the pads every couple months took care of the rest.

Your calipers won't need to be replaced unless the pistons are seized. Part number for the brackets is 25869424 they are the same for both sides.

The antirattle clips could be missing as well and causing the rattle maybe make sure you have them

Mine have never made a sound and create a little grey dust, not nearly as much as stock pads do.

I have not yet but I have question for the senior members on here isn't there supposed to be brake hardware between the pads and the caliper bracket so they don't wear them?

The pads sit directly on the caliper bracket. Some cars, not Cobalts, have a thin steel clip/shim that clips onto the caliper bracket and the pad sits on that clip/shim, see pic.
