15,000 Mile Injector service
I went in to a dealership a few days ago, and I was told that I needed to have some service done on my Injectors because of the mileage. I didn't pay attention to what reason they need to do this for but I did here the price for the service. $129. What is it that they need to do with the injectors. Do they clean them, replace them, or what.

think about it, are you going to let them do this every 15,000 miles? no, I hope not! 15,000 is still practicly brand new. and its not even listed in the manual or maintenance schedule.
think about doing it way down the line, like about 75,000 minimum.

Yea they are FULL OF CAH-CAH ( $hit ) .... You definetly dont need that service.. Not a chance. Run a bottle of K100G found at advance Auto parts, its 5 bucks and it will clean your injectors and valves perfectly if you that concerened. That should be just fine. I tested that stuff when i worked at advance auto when i was in college, and that cleaner works the best all the others, actually leave a sandy residue in your gas tank after a while. This is why i use K100G...

heh, they run a bottle of cleaner through the vaccum on the intake makinfold and clean off the carbon deposits and gunk out of the injectors. However, GM says that it is not a required mantinece and should only be performed if there is a drivability issue which leads to a plugged injector or something....and also, they reccommend the use of their Top Engine Cleaner, not the crap that comes in the "injection flush"

Yeah, I believe injectors fall under the "don't fix it if it ain't broke" category. I'd say the vast majority of fuel injectors outlast the cars they're installed in with no maintenance at all.

Funny thing is, is that they do route the cleaner through the vacuum line which actually doesn't clean out the injectors. Well that's how some dealerships do their "injector flush". Some also use the injector cleaner kit which routes cleaner through the injectors themselves.

well, the vaccum flush which the dealership I work at along with most others is and induction flush.....that is basically meant to clean off carbon deposits in the cylinders and manifold and head and all that stuff. And actual injector cleaning is injected through the service port in the fuel rail, or in the fuel line if no service port is available......

Its just an upsell, I went thru this with Powersteering fluid, they said it needed to be flushed (87$). I said No and googled it, I found out that NO automaker recommends changing it and it goes dark in couple months.
The way I see if its not in the owners manual that smart engineers with high degrees who designed the car recommend, then its an extra money swindle.
